London it always surprises and even when you seem to have seen everything, absolutely everything, something absolutely new and original comes out.
This is what happened to me on Friday evening, when, thanks to a friend, I discovered a new "restaurant", if you can call it that.
Is called Thank you Marie and is a Dalston Junction, in a building once used as a factory and subsequently converted to office space. During the day in the week Thank you Marie it is nothing more than the canteen that serves the offices, but for a couple of weeks now the girl who runs it has decided to do an experiment and also open on Friday evening, by reservation only. I admit I was a bit skeptical at first, especially as you have to go through the fire escape stairs at the back of the building to access the restaurant as the main entrance closes after 18pm as the offices are inactive.
Yet, after a somewhat hesitant beginning, I immediately had to change my mind: minimal environment, completely white, with some original decoration and an entire relative on which French films are shown.
The menu is short but interesting, and offers the option to take 3 dishes for £ 22 or 2 dishes for £ 19, surprising price given the quality and quantity of the courses.
Da Thank you Marie no wine is served, but you are welcome to bring your own bottle from home if you like it as an accompaniment to your dinner, and it is the ideal solution if you want to go out for dinner with friends but you have a limited budget.
