One of the national dishes of the Belgium it is without a doubt chips and mussels. Obviously, however, being their "strong point" it is not always cheap. On the last night of our trip to Belgium, we were in Bruges, and we decided to try this delight.
After a short tour of blogs, tripadvisor and twitter consultation we did not get a too precise idea. TO Bruges the restaurants are many, often only for tourists with discordant and disheartening reviews. Then in the end we found him: Poules Moules! The restaurant is located two streets behind the Grand Place in Bruges, very easy to find, in a small square where, among other things, there is also Pizza Hut, so to speak.
The restaurant is divided into some tables indoors and some outdoors in the square. If it's not too cold, take advantage of it and dine outside. The mussels (we went there for that) are divided into let's say normal mussels and mussels cooked in beer. Obviously we chose the latter. Also with the pan of mussels we got a super portion of French fries which in fact we had not found in the menu but which were obviously already included in the order of the mussels.
Well we chose one classic Belgian lager beer and a half-liter bottle of water that cost us the beauty of 4,80€ only the latter. Advice: in Belgium you always prefer beer, it costs much less and buy water at the supermarket, for a 1,5 l bottle you will pay about € 1,80 better than at a restaurant for sure.
The judgment on this place is excellent, we ate mussels until I can't take it anymore and they were delicious. Cooked in beer they were really good, and I don't even think I managed to finish them all. Highly recommended for those who appreciate local dishes. Two beers, a bottle of water, an appetizer and two mussels cooked in beer with chips we paid approximately 50 € all.
