The Amalfi coast is one of the most popular Italian destinations both by our compatriots and by foreigners, here is what to do in Positano in a day or a week: practical advice.
With its wonderful towns that dot the coast, the walking paths, the unique beaches and the excellent restaurants, it is difficult to see everything in a single week, especially because if you are in Positano, it is worth taking advantage of the time you have to dedicate yourself above all to the discovery of this incredible town, visited by everyone during their stay on the coast.
So if you have chosen Positano as the location of your stay you have done very well. I would like to give you some advice on how to best use your time on site.
Positano: the most beautiful and lively city on the coast, appreciated by tourists and not suitable for those with walking problems, as, you must know, that the city is full of steps, being built almost entirely vertically.
I recommend you take a hotel in an elevated position, to enjoy the spectacle of the landscape every morning, have a breakfast overlooking the sea, descend the steps on foot or by bus and reach the town, where you can spend most of the day.
You will notice lots of shops selling local handicrafts, such as very beautiful ceramic tiles: a great gift for yourself or your loved ones. Ceramic adorns all of Positano, coloring it and livening it up even more.
Here's what to see:
- Walk and lose yourself among the narrow streets of the country.
- In the evening you can have fun with the discotheques present on site, such as the famous "Music on the Rocks", as well as many bar open until night.
- Visit the botanical garden of the Murat Palace, admiring the courtyard and the antique furniture of this which is now a luxury hotel, but was once a XNUMXth century Neapolitan Baroque palace belonging to Gioacchino Murat, king of Naples.
- If you want to see a church in a wonderful and suggestive position then you can stop and light a candle or listen to mass at the Romanesque church of Santa Maria Assunta of the thirteenth century, of immense value and cultural importance. Its majolica dome attracts everyone's attention !!
- Obviously you have come to Positano mainly to relax and therefore the beaches represent an important, indeed fundamental part of your trip: all equipped, I recommend you opt for "Big Beach"The most famous, located in the port of the country, or"Fornillo beach". Know that the sand is pebbly, yes, but you can take sunbeds for a fee. Strangely, do not expect unrealistic prices, indeed, much cheaper than in Capri.
- Positano is much loved by many artists, including painters and craftsmen. You will find small galleries, always crowded with tourists, especially because they are free, as well as artisans "shoemakers" who make the famous sandals of the Amalfi coast on the spot, you just have to decide the color, the shape and the masters do the rest!
- Finally for lunch and dinner you can indulge yourself with the various restaurants present on site. Recommended is the healthiest and simplest dish in Positano, which never tires and which fills and makes everyone happy: spaghetti with fresh local tomatoes, called “pachino” and basil, really excellent! Otherwise eat some fish, always fresh, which you can enjoy at sunset in places with a breathtaking view!
For the rest have fun and try to visit then day also Capri and maybe rent a dinghy to see the Amalfi coast from the sea, even more beautiful than from land.
