If there is one thing that is hard to find good in Trentino, this is Pizza, and I have been saying this for thirty, although I have emigrated to Emilia Romagna for years now.
Given my lake birthplace, I can declare that, if it is not common to find one good pizza in Riva del Garda, until a few years ago it was impossible to find a real and excellent Neapolitan pizza.
Neapolitan pizza in Riva del Garda
In the heart of the city center of Riva del Garda, specifically in Via Gazzoletti 15, you will find the restaurant you don't expect. South is located among the alleys enclosed by the town gates, between squares, cobblestones and glimpses of the lake. South is the name of this restaurant Pizzeria and it is a declaration of intent in full voice, because here you will not find the "typical" Trentino pizza, that is to say the mostly thin and crunchy one, but the real Neapolitan pizza, tall, soft and absolutely delicious.
The pizzas are one better than the other, so you'll have to come back to try them all. The ingredients are absolutely fresh, your palate will confirm it.
South: a rich menu
Every day, in addition to the classic menu of pizzas, where none of these is obvious, you will find the menu with the pizza of the day. Let yourself be intrigued even if the flavors seem particular to you, every time I have tried it it has been a success.
However Sud does not only offer pizza but also aexcellent Neapolitan cuisine, especially fish. I recommend specifically to try thebuffalo and squid based appetizer, on a bed of pesto, pasta with pasta and don't forget the desserts.
The place is new and very nice and, which never hurts, the staff is made up of young and really nice guys who will advise you with a smile on their lips.
Despite having lived most of my life in Riva del Garda, this is the first pizza restaurant where, practically always, there is a queue outside, especially in high season, as you can imagine. It cannot be booked, so you should just go out there and wait, perhaps having a standing aperitif. It will be worth it, I assure you. And the prices are also very honest, which is even more in their favor.
A curiosity, inside the restaurant if you want you can also buy some typical Neapolitan products.
