Sleeping in Petra is a unique emotion, there are many solutions for all budgets to stay in this place full of history. In the post, we recommend a cheap Capsule Hostel and a low cost but more conventional hotel.
In the heart of Jordan lies one of the seven wonders of the modern world: Petra. Easy to reach from both Amman and Aqaba, it is on the routes of any tourist itinerary that crosses this land. Petra attracts millions of visitors every year, thanks to the spectacular history, monumental remains, or even just the fact that this was the set of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. In the post, we will recommend two great solutions for sleeping in Petra.
Petra is a wonderful corner of the Middle East, sleeping in the city will certainly guarantee you an added value: you can experience the magic of Petra by night, after visiting the important archaeological site.
Sleeping in Petra: tips for all budgets
If you are going to visit it independently it is advisable to sleep directly there, even more so if you have more than one day available. To avoid the increased flow of visitors, it's best to get to the Visitor Center very early. A whole city has sprung up around Petra: Wadi Musa, where you can find accommodation solutions of all kinds, from 4-star hotels to particular hostels. Below, you will find two particular tips: one strategic and low cost, the other more conventional and relaxing, but always at a medium-low cost.
1. Petra Capsule Hostel
For an accommodation low cost, international and young, I recommend the Petra Capsule Hostel. Capsule hostels are a Japanese idea to make the most of space, offering a kind of hostel that has the advantage of having the privacy of a hotel. The beds are inside totally wooden “capsules” that can be closed. Inside there are power sockets and even a nice shower kit. Some of these micro-rooms have windowed walls which offer you a unique view of the valley where the city of Petra was born.
It is obviously not a solution for everyone, especially if you suffer from claustrophobia. But if it's an experience you would like to have at least once in your life, this is a good place to test yourself.
In addition, the hostel is located on the fifth floor of a building without a lift, which is something to consider. But if you feel like trying something unique, then this is for you, in full center of Wadi Musa, close to the best restaurants and a short distance from the Visitor Center of the archaeological site of Petra.
2. Sunset Hotel: the most elegant solution
For more accommodation conventional, relaxing but always low cost, the Sunset Hotel is the one for you. Its greatest advantage is the location. It is located exactly in front of the entrance to the Petra site.
The Sunset Hotel offers comfortable rooms with private bathrooms and a breakfast with everything you need to savor the tastes of Jordan, but also with a more international selection, both sweet and savory. It is a conventional but inexpensive hotel which will make your stay lack nothing and will make you feel a little at home.
