What's better, to crown a walk along the lake Ortathan sipping good wine in a warm and welcoming tavern? A few steps from the central square of Orta San Giulio there is 'Al Boeuc', a wine shop with an intimate atmosphere and a wide selection of Piedmontese and non-Piedmontese wines.
Walking down the alley we glimpsed the small illuminated door from candles and a slate that promised typical cold cuts and cheeses as an accompaniment to wine. We did not hesitate and, having crossed the door, we were immediately conquered by the ancient stones of the walls, the wooden tables, and the numerous bottles that jewel all the walls like flowers.
Together with a excellent red wine we ordered a cold cuts platter, with bacon, horse salami, local salami and an anthology of cheeses accompanied by honey and compote. We couldn't resist trying the Bagna cauda: traditional Piedmontese dish with raw vegetables to be dipped in a 'hot bath' of oil, garlic and anchovies. And to end the evening, a chat with Andrea, the owner, accompanied by a tasty treat Chocolate liquor. All really delicious.
Al Boeuc is the ideal place for one romantic evening or for those looking for an alternative to the classic restaurant without giving up the flavors of Piedmontese cuisine and the aromas of quality wines. It is located in via Bersani 28 in Orta San Giulio.
