Lots of tips on where to eat in Cannes, on the French Riviera, for a low cost holiday with no surprises. Read the post and find your favorite place for a great dinner in France.
Cannes , the little gem of CĂ´te d'Azur, it is not just the sea, fashion and events; in Cannes you can eat very well and, contrary to what one might think, it is absolutely not expensive.
The city is practically full of restaurants and therefore the choice is very varied; you can find a very expensive restaurant, but you can find many good restaurants at absolutely affordable prices.
Obviously it is a must to eat their strong dishes such as the oysters and all raw crustaceans, the "Escargot à la Bourguignonne"(French snails), the"Foie gras"(Duck or goose liver), the"Soupe de Poisson"(Fish soup) and their fantastic"Wet pan”(A sandwich filled with many ingredients such as tuna, salad, tomato, olives, eggs, etc.).
Below, I list my favorite places to eat in Cannes.
L'Assiette Provençale
This lovely restaurant is located in Quai Saint-Pierre, in the part of Old Port (Le Vieux Port).
It is a small place where it is better to book (you can send an email or pass in person), the staff is really nice and the atmosphere very romantic.
You can choose between a la carte dishes and a couple of Convenient menus with two courses + dessert. Try their delicious Soupe de Poisson, served with a tasty sauce and croutons, the grilled salmon, the Grilled Shrimp served with the Camargu red riceee, for those who like it, the duck, accompanied by a pumpkin mousse with raspberries.
Average price (Ă la carte a bit expensive, it is better to choose from the menus that contain all the dishes I mentioned above). Definitely my favorite in Cannes.
Marina Cafè
Il Marina Cafè at first glance, it looks like the classic tourist restaurant. It is located in Rue Felix Faure, in the center of Cannes, in the street with all the restaurants attached to each other.
I went there one night when most of the restaurants were full and I didn't know where to turn. I stopped here, without too many expectations and, in the end, I came out quite satisfied.
Here too we find affordable menus (less expensive than the other restaurant but also less sought after), with many choices. I absolutely recommend the Escargot Ă la Bourguignonne, Foie Gras and Mussels, served with fries.
Good price and service too. Nothing unforgettable but recommended if you don't want to spend too much without giving up on tasting typical dishes of the area.
Le Saint Antoine
The attention to this restaurant was attracted by the sign for a very special aperitif: six oysters + a glass of wine + basket of bread with butter € 10.
Being a lover of oysters I immediately stopped to go back several times! For those who love the genre it is the best aperitif. The oysters are of excellent quality and the price is really low! To try.
Le Saint Antoine you can find it in Place Bernard Cornut Gentille, in front of the bus station.
Le Rendez-Vous
The restaurant Rendez Vous, is located in Rue FĂ©lix Faure.
Here I made a feast of raw fish unforgettable! I recommend the "boat" from € 75 for two people.
Plentiful courses and absolutely low cost for what I ate.
Street Food
On holiday it is also nice to have a quick and above all low cost meal; on this front too, Cannes is spoiled for choice.
In addition to the usual fast-food restaurants, we find quality places, such as the chain Steak 'n Shake, serving delicious hamburgers and delicious Milk Shakes at absolutely low prices, or the countless ones Pastry like that of Jean Luc Pele, which in addition to fantastic chocolate bread it also serves delicious sandwiches.
Il Wet pan, I advise you to taste it in the many stalls on the street or, in case, you can also find that in the many boulangeries of the city.
