There are always two ways to reach the city center of Barcelona, one is theGirona airport, far from the Spanish city but served by low cost airlines such as Ryanair and Easyjet, and the other is theEl Prat airport. The second, which is the airport we are talking about in this post, is certainly much more convenient than Girona airport, because it is closer and therefore more convenient. But what are the ways to get easily and quickly from El Prat airport to Barcelona city center, once you have landed by plane? Let's see them together.
There are three easiest and cheapest ways to reach the city fromBarcelona El Prat airport (i.e. the main airport, not Girona airport):
Renfe train
Take the Renfe train to Barcelona Sants and Barcelona Paseo de Gracia stations.
Il cost of a single ticket one way is 2 €. Actually the best idea would be to buy a T10 (a 10-ride pass at a cost of € 9.80) which will also serve you for subsequent transport on the urban network.
From the airport to the city center you can get off at Barcelona Sants, Passeig de Gràcia or Clot where you will find the metro stops. You will then need to take a Barcelona metro to get to your final destination. If you have not bought the T10 ticket but just a normal ticket, you will need to buy another one to make the change. If you have a T10 ticket you can change without paying any additional cost. We advise you to immediately check your final destination and understand how much you will need or want to use the subway while traveling, only in this way you can decide whether to take the T10 or buy transport tickets from time to time. With the T10, the same ticket used for the train ride also applies to the metro or bus ride that you may have to do later (within 75 minutes). Trains from the airport are in operation from 6:08 23:38, with a travel time of 20 minutes and frequency 30 every minute.
Just note that taking the train is more comfortable for those arriving at T2 (i.e. the old terminal), which currently houses the Ryanair flights, Easyjet and other low-cost airlines. In fact, those arriving at T1 will first have to take a (free) bus that will take them to the train station. Buses are linked with train departure times.
Aerobus Barcelona
there two lines, light blue from T1 and blue from T2, so be careful not to make a mistake. The simple ticket the 5,90€, in operation up to 1 (am) frequency every 5 minutes. The aerobus ticket is not valid for the urban transport network. There are four stops on the aerobus: Plaça Espanya, Gran Vía (in Urgell), Plaça Universitat and Plaça Catalunya. The vending machines accept cash and credit cards, while the drivers wait for the exact amount.
City bus
The cheapest option is always to travel without preferential means, without tourist means, but taking means that all local citizens commonly use, in this case buses.
Un single ticket costs € 2 but you can also use a T-10 ticket (10 rides valid on Barcelona's buses and metro), which costs € 9,80.
During the day, look for line 46. This is the only direct link between the airport and Plaça Espanya. It runs from 05:00 until midnight. If you are traveling in the early hours of the morning, the night service ('Nuit N17') is the one for you, running from midnight to 05am.
