Il Gouda cheese is one of the products ofHolland most appreciated and loved both in the country and abroad. This is also the reason why Gouda cheese is split left and right even if its peculiarity and its typicality can only be found in one place, in Gouda, in the Netherlands.
I best known villages for the production of this cheese are Stolwijk, Haastrecht, Vlist and the Krimpenerwaard area. Gouda cheese is produced from over eight centuries, and marketed for more than three hundred years with techniques now handed down from generation to generation. From 28 June to 30 August every year in the square which is located just behind the Town Hall in Gouda the large forms are sold.
Another specialty of Gouda are the tasty ones sweets stroopwafels, butter and caramel biscuits, here you can find the prescription, the so-called biscuits of the poor.
