La monument Valley, located on the border between Utah and Arizona, is definitely one of those places to see at least once in a lifetime. Stereotype of the Far West thanks to the numerous films with John Wayne, it was a perfect film set for many other films such as Easy Rider, Odyssey 2001, Back to the Future and Forrest Gump, just to name some of the cult films.

Once you are faced with this incredible scenario you would think that it is almost all fake. Instead, everything is madly true, just as it is equally mad that you can sleep right in front of it.

The View Hotel, Monument Valley

The Native Americans of the tribe Navajo, to which the jurisdiction of the entire valley has been recognized, they have in fact thought of building a hotel right in front of the most famous monoliths. An opportunity to admire the monoliths at both sunrise and sunset. Best name could not be chosen for this hotel, The View. The property is spartan and definitely dated, but the location is excellent. The thrill of waking up in the morning, looking out the window and immediately immersing yourself in a similar atmosphere and landscape, is priceless. For this reason the hotel remains highly sought after by tourists from all over the world with the consequence that it is constantly fully booked.

Le cabin: wild charm

Not many, however, know the younger sisters of this hotel: placed laterally with respect to both the central body of the hotel and the 3 monoliths, the “cabins” have a decidedly more wild charm which amply compensates for their different location. Placed in two rows, the cabins are completely made of wood and equipped with every comfort.

Of different sizes (based on the number of guests who can stay there) each cottage is equipped with bathroom, kitchenette with coffee machine, refrigerator e Microwave e Wi-Fi. They are furnished with some details that recall the Navajo style, such as the blankets placed on the beds. But above all, every cabin has one huge bay window and a balcony from which you can enjoy the fantastic fiery red panorama even while sitting directly in bed. Waking up here to see the sunrise and being able to go out and throw yourself again in your “into the wild” pajamas is something indescribable.

The cabins are spread over two rows and those facing right in front of the monoliths have a higher price which is identical to that of the standard hotel room. The cost for one night is not exactly cheap, but the unique experience that you will have the opportunity to live totally repays the cost of accommodation.

A Navajo dinner

Given the distance from the nearest towns, you can dine in the restaurant of the hotel that offers a menu with typically Navajo dishes. It is not possible to book, but guests - both in the hotel and in the cabins - have priority over those who are just passing through.

Obviously the expense could discourage many from choosing to book a night in this hotel, but we are talking about a unique structure, and this aspect makes it so special. The View Hotel, Monument Valley: ready to live a literally unforgettable experience?
