On the occasion of the twelfth birthday of Wikipedia It is born Wikivoyage, a free tourist guide, worldwide and accessible to all. The guide is ad-free, anyone can correct and improve it, the logic is the same as wikipedia in short.
It is currently available in nine languages, English, Italian, German, Dutch, French, Russian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish and already contains 50.000 articles edited by 200 volunteer publishers. The service is active since 2006 in the German and Italian editions, thanks to the German non-profit Wikivoyage Association, but soon the brand will be that of the Wikimedia Foundation.
The aim is to promote education and knowledge of all countries and regions of the world, as well as understanding between nations. Wikivoyage's content gives anyone the right to read, copy, print, save, download, modify, distribute, sell and update its content in any way, provided the terms of the free license are respected.
