The city of lovers is defined by many as the beautiful city of Paris. When you go to Paris you never know what to start with, there are so many things we would like to see, taste, try, do, but then time is always short and in order not to risk missing something fundamental here is a small list of 10 things to do in Paris, or the list of 10 things to do in Paris at least once in a lifetime, don't you think?
We accept suggestions and advice if you think other recommendations should be added to the list :)
1. Climb the Eiffel Tower. As cliché as it is, it's impossible to resist. I myself went to Paris twice and went up there twice. It is not always easy to find the right moment. Be careful that there is no mist otherwise you will see nothing from above and do not go up too late. Although the lights of the city at night are beautiful, in my opinion at sunset the show is twice as beautiful. Make an extra effort, take the sunset times and calculate the waiting time to go up. In my opinion you will not regret it. Ah, bring your camera, please!
2. Getting to the top of Notre Dame. Younger people and kids will undoubtedly know her for the famous cartoon, so if you are in the family it will also be easy to bring them up. Do not limit yourself to entering the most beautiful church in France, according to many. In front you will find the zero point, the same thing that is found among other things in Madrid in Puerta del Sol, from which all the roads of France start. As I said, don't just enter and stay in the lower part of the structure which, among other things, is free. Climb up and observe the entire city from above, the famous gargoyles keep you company.
3. Take the Champs Elysees. If you are a couple, walk them at sunset hand in hand, if you are alone, take the opportunity to do some shopping or to take a nice photo of the Arc de Triomphe which is located at the end of this famous street. I advise you not to eat anything here, anything could cost you very dearly. Take a walk and do not pay attention to the traffic which in some peak hours, in terms of horn and smog, could be really unbearable.
4. Go to the Père - Lachaise Cemetery. Going to the cemetery is never nice, it's true. This, however, will make you think again, if you are a lover of these things of course, it is not mandatory and indeed some might even consider it in bad taste. In fact, in this cemetery many singers, more or less famous writers have been buried and there are even tours complete with a map and slalom between the graves to reach those of your favorites. You will recognize them anyway, the tombs, also because fans never fail to leave a memory, flowers or even ... something more eccentric. For example, Jim Morrison, Balzac, Oscar Wilde, Marcel Proust, Chopin, Abelardo and Eloisa and many others were buried here.
5. Go to the Wall of I Love You. A small wall located in Montmartre. Here lovers from all over the world meet at least once in their life. A wall with I love you written in over 300 different languages can only intrigue and also soften and get here with the person you love, well it's wonderful, don't you think?
6. Visit the D'Orsay Museum. One of the most beautiful museums in France and certainly in Paris. The Musée d'Orsay was built in the old station of Orsay on the occasion of the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1900. A very special museum therefore with a structure and a modern but at the same time vintage architecture, almost beyond the time. Here you can find Manet, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin and many others. It is worth entering only for the location, on the first Sunday of each month and admission is free.
7. Visit the Louvre. To say visit the Louvre is a word. To visit it all you would have to stay inside for days. In fact, we have drawn up 5 tips before visiting the Louvre, the one I prefer is the last one, do not try to visit the whole museum, it is humanly impossible, choose an area corresponding to an artistic period that interests you or all the works of an artist . Instead, do not try to visit it all at all costs, you will end up not remembering anything, seeing random works and giving you a big headache. Do things well, take an audio guide and take a route, it will be beautiful!
8. Stroll through the Latin Quarter. One of my all time favorite neighborhoods in Paris! Unique and decidedly French atmosphere, with clubs and cafes open day and night all year round. The atmosphere is also a bit intellectual given that the Sorbonne is located right here, with intimate shops and libraries offering the best of French culture. Get lost in this neighborhood and don't look at the clock.
9. A visit to Montmartre. Personally I would stay there for hours, here there is so much to see even if it is often full of tourists taking photos or having portraits taken. Take your space and visit the whole area, walking up and down to the Wall of I love you, visit the Sacred Heart Basilica and have a photo taken with the entire city of Paris in the background. If you are a couple then, what do I tell you to do take advantage of the moment and enjoy this show for two.
10. The flea markets of Paris. The tips here are to see absolutely and at least the Merché aux puces de saint-ouen which is considered the largest flea market in Europe. It is located behind Montmartre and is easily reached by metro. If you are passionate about vintage or photography, listen to me, you will get lost!
