Five low cost things to see in Copenhagen during a holiday in Denmark. Here is the list of the most interesting attractions, complete with prices for those who don't want to miss anything.
Copenhagen is divided into 8 neighborhoods: Nørrebro, Nørreport, Nyhavn further north, Strøget in the center and Vesterbro, Tivoli Slotsholmen and Christianshavn further south; each of these is characterized by buildings and attractions that make the Danish capital an absolutely interesting destination.
In this article we will explore 5 things to see in this typically Nordic city with a Scandinavian style.
1. Børsen
In the Slotsholmen district you will find this particular building as well seat of the stock exchange. Very beautiful building in its entirety, it finds its originality in the 56 m high spire formed by the intertwined tails of 4 dragons. The red brick facades and green copper roof also contribute to the beauty of the building. A short distance away, still in the Slotshomen district, bordered from the rest of the city by the Slotsholms channel, is also found the Christiansborg Slot seat of the Danish parliament. While the Børsen is not open to the public, it is possible to visit the Christiansborg Slot inside (reception hall, fortress ruins and royal stables) instead for the price of 120 Dkr.
2. RundetĂĄrn
The Round Tower is a circular brick building located in the Strøget district; 35 meters high, it allows you to see from its top a beautiful panorama of the city with its roofs and colorful houses. Going up the circular ramp inside the tower you can also see theastronomical observatory. Entrance costs 25 Dkr and is easily accessible by metro (Nørreport stop).
In the same district there is also one of the most beautiful shopping streets in the city: Strædet and the Magasin department store, the largest in Denmark; the latter is located right in front of the Kongens Nytorv metro station. From this stop you can also reach the next attraction.
3. Nyhavn canal
The first image that appears looking on the internet Copenhagen are definitely the row of colorful houses in the Dutch style along this canal which also gives its name to the neighborhood in which it is located. It is definitely worth seeing and taking a photo of this picturesque landscape made up of the canal, the boats and these very characteristic houses; during the Christmas period everything is made even more fascinating by the markets and decorations arranged along the canal.
4. Kastellet
Always staying in the same neighborhood (Nyhavn) you can visit this very suggestive fortress a star shape. The red barracks are surrounded by the moat and green ramparts completely covered with grass and passable and walkable. You can take advantage of it to take a quiet walk along which there is a ancient windmill and from which you can see in the distance the statue of the Little Mermaid, the harbor and the Marmorkirken (the Marble Church characterized by a dome in the style of St. Peter of Rome that is definitely worth a visit.)
5. Rosenborg Slot
This castle is one of the most important buildings and beautiful cities. Today it serves as a museum and houses the Crown Jewels. It is located in the Nørreport district and like other buildings in the city, including the Børsen, it too features red brick walls and a green copper roof. The entrance costs 90 Dkr and allows you to have access to the Winter Room of Christian IV, the Bedroom of Christian IV, the Room of Mirrors, the Hall of the Knights, Rooms and cellars in the basement, the Green Room and the Treasure. In front of the castle is the Garden of the King as well as a public park in the city featuring flower beds, paths and a puppet theater where free shows are held in summer.
