But in this article I am addressing those who have resigned themselves to a city summer full of heat. Maybe you have to work and don't have time to organize big trips? No problem, in the surroundings of Milan there are many opportunities to enjoy a mini vacation and recharge your batteries away from the metropolitan heat. I have always loved the slightly rustic and homely atmosphere of the farmhouses restaurants, that's why I started looking for the best facilities, a maximum of two hours drive from Milan. I found very different places, all nice and, needless to say, all with swimming pool. For convenience I have them listed in order of distance from Milan, so depending on how much time you have available, it will be easier for you to choose. The San Francesco farmhouse is a small farm just sixteen kilometers from Milan. It is the ideal choice for those who want to spend a relaxing weekend, without having to go too far. The rooms are quite spartan, but spacious and the estate is surrounded by greenery. The pool is surrounded by flowers and nearby there are stables with horses and beehives for local honey production. If you are looking for a welcoming location in contact with nature, San Francesco is the farm for you!
2. Tenuta Il Cigno (25 km)
Tenuta Il Cigno is a gem just thirty minutes from Milan. The farmhouse has a wellness center, swimming pool, and suites with private jacuzzi. They even have an extra luxury tree house where you can sleep five meters above the ground. The estate also collaborates with a charity that saves abused horses and mules and offers guests the opportunity to go horseback riding in the countryside. For the more athletic among you, you can play golf in the nineteen courses nearby or take a mountain bike tour in the numerous paths that wind around. In short, there is something for everyone!
3. Tenuta Camillo Farmhouse (27 km)
Tenuta Camillo is a country farmhouse with farm animals and a genuine atmosphere. The owners welcome everyone warmly and immediately made me feel at home. The swimming pool and barbecue area are perfect for a relaxing weekend with friends. In the evening, if you don't feel like exploring nearby villages, Tenuta Camillo's restaurant offers local dishes at fair prices.
4. Agriturismo Il Boschetto (30 km)
This farmhouse is located between Monza and Bergamo in the splendid Rio Vallone Park. Among the farmhouses on this list it is perhaps the least rustic. The estate is partly reminiscent of a farmhouse, but has been renovated and features spacious and elegant rooms. Near the pool there is a play area for the little ones and in the riding school right in front of the farm you can see horses and ponies.
5. L'Oasi Farm (34 km)
The L'Oasi Farm is a farmhouse a few kilometers from Pavia, obtained from the renovation of an old stable. The atmosphere is rustic, but very welcoming. The genuine country air is perhaps the thing I liked the most! There are animals, typical products, even a bio-lake where you can splash around in the green! It is truly the perfect destination to relax and spend a couple of days in contact with nature.
6. Relais California (37 km)
In the heart of Brianza and half an hour from Milan, Relais California is the ideal place to switch off for a weekend. It is a renovated stately home surrounded by greenery. You can take long regenerating walks in the five hectares of park that surround the estate, relax in the spa center, pamper yourself with beauty treatments or refresh yourself in the exquisite restaurant. To you the choice! But I assure you that a weekend in this paradise will give you the right energy to face even the hottest Milanese summer.
7. Agriturismo Torrazzetta (70 km)
Agriturismo Torrazzetta conquered me at a glance. It is an old renovated farmhouse a few kilometers from Voghera, with rustic rooms and wooden furniture. It is immersed in the green hills of Lombardy and, while retaining a country atmosphere, is equipped with all comforts, a tennis court for the more sporty, a library and, of course, a super outdoor swimming pool. The food is all home made and exquisite and the wine is produced on site.
8. Cascina Corte Grande (70 km)
Located 70 km south of Milan, Cascina Corte Grande is a farmhouse with swimming pool, restaurant and a little farm-like atmosphere. It is ideal for a weekend with the whole family. For the little ones there are animals, a play area and a pond. For the older ones you will find a swimming pool with umbrellas and sunbeds, home-grown wine and homemade cuisine. Between horseback riding and swimming, the weekend will pass in a heartbeat.
9. AgriBioRelais Collar (78 km)
This farmhouse is located a few kilometers from Lake Iseo and offers a spectacular view of the surrounding hills. The structure is brand new and the owners are very helpful. The outdoor swimming pool and spa area with sauna and Turkish bath make this destination a guarantee for a relaxing weekend.
10. Borgo Santuletta (80 km)
Located in the middle of hills and local vineyards, Borgo Santuletta is a real gem. Everything is studied in detail, from the furnishing of the splendid rooms to the food and cleaning. I don't think it's possible to remain dissatisfied. From the swimming pool there is a breathtaking view of the vineyards and the restaurant offers homemade food of the highest quality and own production. Don't believe me? Seeing is believing!
11. Wood of the Poor (93 km)
The Bosco dei Poveri is a small farmhouse near Piacenza. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is the place for you. You can enjoy a splendid view over the surrounding countryside and soak for hours in their enchanting swimming pool surrounded by vineyards. If I still haven't convinced you, their red wine production alone is worth the trip.
12. Borgo Erbiola (95 km)
Located near Lake Como, on the suggestive banks of the Adda river, this farmhouse impresses with its rustic and authentic setting. The old historic stone buildings of the farmhouse have been renovated and transformed into simple but welcoming rooms. The swimming pool overlooking the surrounding hills and mountains offers unparalleled peace and relaxation.
13. Agriturismo Cà Del Lago (99 km)
This beautiful farmhouse is located just 400 meters from Lake Como and is ideal for an escape from the city with the whole family. It has a spa, outdoor pool, genuine food and play area for the little ones. It is also a perfect starting point for exploring the surroundings and offers guests free bike rental.
14. Agriturismo Villa Bissiniga (120 km)
This villa-farmhouse is located in Salò, a splendid town on Lake Garda rich in history and charm. The rooms all have a personalized, elegant yet welcoming design. The strong point of this structure is certainly the terrace with a 360 ° panoramic view over the entire lake and the Brescia countryside. The swimming pool is located in the middle of the olive grove owned by the farm and even just lying in the sun in this idyllic setting is worth a visit.
15. Adam's Vineyards (138 km)
Le Vigne di Adamo is the furthest property on this list from Milan, but can still be reached in a couple of hours driving. Located in the Mincio Regional Park, it is a small farmhouse with spacious rooms, a swimming pool surrounded by greenery and an adjoining wine cellar. The atmosphere is very romantic and in my opinion it is ideal for a getaway for two. If you have the opportunity to stay a little longer, here you are less than thirty kilometers from Mantua, Verona and Lake Garda, perfect destinations for a quick trip.
