Isn't tasting traditional dishes one of the best things about the trip? Here are the tips for enjoying excellent typical dishes during your stay in Bergamo and its surroundings.
If you visit Bergamo, you cannot fail to try the polenta, the casoncelli, dishes based on game, salami e cheese.
What makes a country unique is also its food, its own typical dishes. As far as I'm concerned, every time I travel, one of the moments I appreciate most is the meal (lunch or dinner) where I never fail to order traditional local dishes. In this article I want to recommend some places to eat typical Bergamo dishes in Brembana Valley.
I propose four places: two refuges and two restaurants. We start from the shelters, both reachable by car and from which more or less demanding hiking trails start and therefore suitable for everyone.
1. Casa Cantoniera Ca 'San Marco Refuge
This refuge is located at San Marco pass, a road pass that connects the Brembana Valley to the Valtellina, and is the oldest refuge of the two on site. From the Brembo side, it can be reached by passing through the village of Mezzoldo. It is located in a beautiful location with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and offers typical dishes including polenta taragna, mixed meats, mushrooms, grilled cheese, pizzocheri and great desserts.
2. Rifugio Ristorobie
It is located in front of the parking lot at the Plans of the Miser which can be reached by passing through the town of Cusio; it is a very characteristic and welcoming place, all in wood both inside and outside, located in a beautiful area surrounded by meadows and mountains. It offers typical dishes such as nosecc (stuffing wrapped in cabbage leaves), polenta taragna, mushrooms, pasta with game ragout and delicious homemade desserts.
In both huts, not being very large, it is recommended to book to be sure to secure a place. In both cases, excellent value for money.
Let's now turn to the restaurants.
3. The Stube
It is found at Piazza Brembana and as you can already guess from the name it is a typical place Tyrolean style, with interior completely in wood. In addition to excellent quality pizzas, it also offers some dishes from Bergamo and Valtellina: casoncelli, pizzocheri, polenta, venison, platter of cold cuts, cut, all served in a very careful and accurate way. Again generous portions and decent prices.
4. Orobie Alps Resort
located Roncobello, in a mountain setting, this resort has been renovated for about a year and inside is the restaurant Al Vecchio Larch. Characterized by recipes and traditional dishes revisited and served in a very original way. Here you can taste casoncelli, pizzocheri, foiade with porcini mushrooms, polenta, meat, cutting boards. Dishes for celiacs, vegetarians and vegans are also available on request. Also proposed wines of the territory.
