When you first arrive at Cala Gonone, you don't believe your eyes. After having skirted the wild mountains of Supramonte, observed these large barren and harsh spaces, and crossed small villages almost frozen in time, we arrive at Dorgali.
Cala Gonone: a breathtaking landscape
From Dorgali continue for a few kilometers towards the sea, pass a tunnel and find yourself in front of a surprising landscape. From above the whole coast opens to the view, the sea shines in the sun and inlets with golden beaches can be glimpsed.
A winding road descends steeply towards Cala Gonone, a small colorful village, surrounded by this splendid sea and protected by high cliffs and mountains. In a few kilometers there are many naturalistic and archaeological wonders of Sardinia.
Cala Gonone: for those who love nature
Cala Gonone, in fact, despite being a renowned tourist destination equipped for summer and seaside tourism, manages to preserve large tracts of wild territory and is a unmissable destination for those who love a holiday in nature, trekking or climbing even out of season.
Path in the Grotta del Bue Marino
One of the best known naturalistic attractions is certainly the Grotta del Bue Marino, which extends for about seventy kilometers.
The cave can be visited with a guide thanks to a path of about eight hundred meters artificially illuminated.
It can be reached by sea or on foot with the path that leads to Cala Fuili.
Further south is there Grotta del Fico, less known but of beauty equal to that of the Bue Marino: it can be reached by shuttle, by sea, from the port of Cala Gonone.
Visit to a karst spring
Inland instead we find the karst source of Su Gologone in the Cedrino Park. An equipped municipal park where you can stop in nature after visiting the source.
What to do in Dorgali
The archaeological sites in the territory of Dorgali are equally varied and interesting starting from Nuraghe Mannu, which stands on the top of the beautiful beach of Cala Fuili. Its importance is due to the village consisting of over 200 huts.
Nearby we find the dolmen of Monte Longu and some Domus de Janas.
In the hinterland you can visit the Nuragic villages of Serra Orrios - a few kilometers from Dorgali - e Tiscali, which can only be reached on foot with a trekking of about three hours, for which it is advisable to book a guide.
Dorgali and Cala Gonone: unforgettable beaches
There are countless beaches, starting with the most comfortable and close to the town, such as the beach Centrale, Palmasera, Sos Dorroles e Cala Fuili.
Continuing with those reachable only on foot or by sea: Cala Luna, Sisine, Mariuli and Gabbiani, Until you get to Cala Goloritzè, a climber's paradise.
One of the most beautiful treks in Italy
In Cala Goloritzè we find Punta Carroddi, a 140-meter pinnacle overlooking the sea, several spiers and walls that create a suggestive and unique scenario.
On this rocky coast, so surprising and inaccessible, theRoute of the Wild Blue, one of the most difficult and most suggestive trekking in Italy. A seven-stage route with sections of climbing and abseiling, which winds its way along ancient paths of charcoal burners and shepherds, and which ends on these spectacular cliffs overlooking the sea.
