    In Calabria, hospitality is sacred. And for hospitality we talk about food. Basically, if you go to Calabria and they offer you food and drink, never refuse.

    If the world falls, you have to eliminate more or less everything that stands in front of you. This rule also applies when you are in a restaurant. Keep in mind that, in general, we are not talking about boiled fish and mixed vegetable salad. We are talking about a banquet that includes at least: mixed appetizers (including parmigiana, fresh ricotta, various cheeses, peppers, fried zucchini flowers, etc., etc.), one or two first courses, one second course, fruit and dessert. Then of course they unclog you with a bitter.



    We tried all these delicacies (and many others) at theNonna Caterina farmhouse of Francavilla Marittima, a stone's throw from the Timpone della Motta archaeological park and also very close to Civita (as well as the sea).

    It is a classic farmhouse surrounded by greenery, with home-grown products (including cheeses and ricotta) and typical Calabrian cuisine. Abundant and quality food and with a particularly low bill (at the time of our visit, there was an offer of 15 euros for a lunch).

    It is not very easy to reach, mostly because the indications are always few, but on the website you will find a map and route. Especially recommended for lunch, so that I can dispose of swallowed food with a nice siesta in the sun.
