There is nothing more beautiful than living from the "first times". Well, for me this trip was a succession of first experiences: among many my first trip to the Amalfi Coast and my first time camping. I have to admit, I had never been there, so I decided not to back down and live this first time in a big way, concretely in a glamping overlooking the sea of Maiori. The premises are not bad, right?
Cannaverde: dream come true
I discovered Cannaverde by chance, while I was organizing our days on the Amalfi Coast and I will tell you more, it intrigued me so much that it made me change my initial plans, which included an overnight stay every day in a different country, making me book instead. three nights in Maiori.
Cannaverde is the realization of the dream of Alessio and Alessandro, two boys from Salerno, who together decided to take an ancient coastal lemon house and transform it, keeping its essence alive. They decided to install 8 tents, each on a private terrace, with a wonderful view overlooking the Bay of the Dead Horse.
The structure of the glamping
I assure you that seeing the sun rise from behind the coast as well as the colors of the sky at sunset is a sight not to be missed. The tents, being many meters below street level, are very quiet, in fact you will fall asleep lulled by the sound of the waves. Spacious and very comfortable, as inside there is a mattress and all the space needed to place the luggage.
Also, outside there is a shower and a tap for drinking water. The private relaxation area instead includes a table with chairs and a relaxing hammock. The bathrooms are shared with the other tents, but they will amaze you. Modern and very comfortable showers in a recovered ancient cave deposit, decorated with the famous local ceramics. The sink area is outdoors with a wonderful view of the sea. Even today when I brush my teeth at home, I look back with nostalgia on that moment as I looked at the sea on the horizon.
The glamping garden
The common areas are concentrated in one of the terraces of the structure, the lowest with respect to the road and the entrance. It is a covered area with tables and chairs where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning and in the evening dishes produced with the crops from the glamping garden. A pizza oven only adds to the charm of the place. Do not imagine demanding and intrusive structures, in Cannaverde everything has been designed to have the least impact on the environment and respecting the nature of the ancient lemon house in which it stands.
The structure, which has been open for a couple of seasons, is constantly evolving: the owners are in fact a volcano of ideas and among their future projects there will be more exclusive tents with private bathrooms as well as the possibility of a descent to the sea inside the structure.
The glamping is located just outside Maiori: a twenty minute walk will take you to the village. Otherwise, easily reachable by SITA public buses, whose stop is right in front of the entrance. For us it was an excellent starting point for the discovery of Amalfi, Positano and the villages of the Amalfi Coast.
