After the Christmas holidays, for those who are not lucky enough to indulge in a real trip, it is now time to plan new trips outside the city and days of fun to chase away the much feared recovery depression! The Carnival with the many events and fashion shows around Italy.
In province of Arezzo, for example, there is the Carnival of Foiano della Chiana which with 2013 celebrates its 474esima edition, thus placing itself among the most important genre events in Italy, both for the spectacular choreography and for its historical tradition.
To parade are the giants allegorical wagons of the four competing districts (Azzurri, Bombolo, Nottambuli and Rustici) made by papier mache masters and mechanics experts. Every Sunday (this year the !, 3, 10, February 17 e 3 March) starting from 15.00 pm, King Giocondo opens the parades followed by the major floats, bands and masquerades. Finally, on the last Sunday, after having made his will, he is publicly set on fire as part of the ceremony of the rificolonata.
From this year there is also a new route, in Piazza Garibaldi, designed for children. Trains, entertainment, inflatables, small allegorical floats, merry-go-rounds and street shows, all with free admission. Also free tastings of carnival sweets offered on Sundays at the Furio del Furia Gallery.
Io advice to go on Sunday 10 February, the day when, in addition to the floats of the Foiano della Chiana districts, floats from Brazil, India and Albania will parade to celebrate the multi-ethnic carnival, all to the rhythm of samba with the Masquerada percussion group!
