The origins of the ancient castle
We are in the City of Pontefract, 30 minutes drive from the center of Florence.
The ancient castle is the historical fulcrum of a farm and agritourism that aims to keep intact the important historical memory of the place and the territory, paying particular attention to the respect due to nature and its characteristics.
The Castle was once owned by the Pazzi family: a place where the conspiracy of the same name was defined in all its details.
It is still possible to visit the room where the protagonists of the story gathered to decide their action plan.
Following the failure of the Pazzi family's plan, the Medici took possession of the manor.
Contrary to what happened with other properties of the family, they decided to keep intact some elements that refer to the ancient family, such as their coat of arms placed above the main entrance to the castle rooms.
Today it is one of the very few places where it is still possible to see original evidence of the presence of the Pazzi, making the manor even more historically valuable.
Visit to the Trebbio Castle
The current owner family took possession of the castle and the annexed land at the end of the 60s.
Today he lives in the castle but allows guided visits to some rooms and to the splendid one ancient cellar, allowing everyone to enjoy the beauty of the place.

As you walk through the carefully restored rooms, you can see how the greatest number of original elements of the structure have been preserved.
The historic cellar
During the passage in the historic cellar you come into contact with the beating heart of the castle Chianti production and other types of wines produced by the family business.
On display, there are numerous historical bottles of previous years and historical terracotta jars that were used for the production of extra virgin olive oil.
The production of wine and oil aims to keep the characteristics of the soil intact, using natural cultivation techniques and maintaining high standards of traditional production.
The result is that you get labels of Chianti Rufina DOCG of Vin Santo DOC. To traditional bottles are added some blends and a brut of Chardonnay and Trebbiano.
