I don't know if you know it, I didn't even imagine it until I found myself in front of it: in Piazza S.Marco in Venice a coffee can only cost 1€. Incredible but true and that's it, when I saw it with my own eyes I still didn't believe it, so much so that for a while I did nothing but go and have coffee right there, always there, in the same place in Piazza San Marco, so much was the amazement. Venice is a city to discover and explore with a different eye every time, its alleys and its disarming beauty never ceases to speak to us. The idea of finding, in the midst of so much majesty, cheap places to make one nice coffee break, it's really interesting.
The Caffè Quadri in Venice
This historic venue overlooks the large square from 1775, has recently been relaunched by Ligabue and Alajmo companies. Today it is this company that manages the cafe-restaurant, with the aim of enhancing and underlining its "Venetian character". The goal - absolutely achieved - is to maintain the tradition and history that reigns in Venice. However, a very ancient story, despite the recent relaunch that could suggest a renewal of the premises, or perhaps experimental exercises.
The coffee has kept its own stately interiors, so much so that when you enter you feel a bit in awe. The atmosphere is in fact truly elegant and sumptuous. The waiters dressed in white, smiling kindly, the wallpaper that who knows how many he has seen and the air, so rich in history.
It was only passing in front of the club that I accidentally noticed the sign with prices, clear and visible, exposed outside the cafe So here's the nice discovery: coffee at the counter costs only € 1, as well as other things, consumed over the counter, have affordable prices for everyone. Even the spritz is really below average for the tourist spot where we are. Drink a excellent low cost spritz in the best-known club in Venice it is an idea that tempts, don't you think? An honest price, therefore, for both coffee and spritz. Of course to enjoy these rates you have to stay at the counter, it is not possible to sit in the middle of the suggestive St. Mark's Square. But that would really be asking too much. We are in fact in a very famous square and in one of the most famous places in Italy.
An experience to live
It will certainly not be like sipping a flute of champagne sitting in the expanse with view of the Campanile, but the charm of this place as well ancient and so refined cannot leave you indifferent. For this it is a small stop that we highly recommend.
