Il Fillet of Santa Barbara it's one of the places best places to eat fried cod in Rome and not just me saying it, but the queue that every day is punctually found outside the club. The place is best known for its fried cod fillet, but the menu is varied. The fillet is now a celebrity in the capital, known by all the Romans but also by some tourists who get information before taking a trip to Rome.



The restaurant is spartan, with paper placemats and paintings that celebrate the beauty of the "Roman", hanging on the walls. Despite everything, however, the fillet is delicious, I dare say unique, that's why I highly recommend it.

Working Time

An important thing to know are the timetables. Whenever I have tried to eat a fillet in this place I have always been disappointed. The place opens every day at 17pm and closes at 22.30pm. There are no stories and there are no buts. You will not find it open at other times and be aware that they are very strict. Spend an afternoon at aperitif time and you won't be disappointed.

Where it is

The Filettaro di Santa Barbara is located in one small square near Campo de 'Fiori, a small pizza located on the famous via dei Giubbonari. The name Santa Barbara is not the name of the square, which instead is Largo dei Librari, but it is the name of the church that is located at the end of this small blind street, a clearing more than a street.

Menu

The menu of course it doesn't just come down to cod fillet, even if this is the most requested "dish", almost a sentence now for the gentlemen who run the place. It is important to know that if you have to enter and sit down, you can also enter the room and be immediately directed to your table, if you just want to take the cod to take away then you have to queue outside. Don't worry they won't forget you, they just do it so as not to accumulate too many people inside the club. Once inside you can see how many work for the fried cod, on average three people (one who cooks, one who serves and one who serves) and how many for the tables. Here priority is given to cod, you are in good hands :)



Consiglio

The advice, even if the place is characteristic and maybe after having queued you will want to stay comfortable comfortable eating at the table, is instead to take the fillet and go out immediately. Eat the fried cod fillet still boiling while walking through the streets of Rome, maybe in the evening, arrive in Field of 'Fiori, take a stroll and admire the beauty of the Eternal City.
