Where to sleep on the Island of Elba, the review of the Enfola low cost campsite for an affordable but perfect holiday for the whole family, starting with the little ones.
What is the magic of an island? In my opinion the fact of being detached from the mainland, detached from everyday life, of being already somewhere else. This is why as soon as I get on the ferry that will take me there, I already feel like I'm on vacation. From this magic theElba island, one hour of navigation between Piombino and Portoferraio. But when you get on board a Moby (or any other denomination of ship, so little changes even in terms of fares) the air changes, the mood relaxes and the island approaches with its charm.
Elba is well known, has varied landscapes and beaches for all tastes, from the rock of Sant'Andrea to the fine beach of Biodola, from the white pebbles of Sansone to the black sand of Acquarilli (naturist beach), just to name a few.
The area that I recommend today has the old charm of the 50s, it is the Capo d'Enfola in the north of the island. It can be reached by car just under 10 minutes by road from Portoferraio and has the particularity of being bathed by two seas; in fact the head is a pin that protrudes far to the east towards the wide gulf of Procchio, connected to the rest of the island by a tongue of land on which stands the ancient building of the trap - now home to the offices of the National Park of 'Tuscan Archipelago - and with a beach both here and there. The landscape here is rocky but with a lot of vegetation, a beautiful and clear sea, a few boats at anchor in the adjacent Gulf of Viticcio, because it is sheltered.
Do not look for worldly life here, because there is none. Enfola is a sea of tranquility, with two small and dark pebble beaches, the diving club, the Amici dell'Enfola Association which sporadically organizes a few festivals.
Those who choose this slice of the island for the holidays can stay overnight in a delightful campsite shaded that is placed on a terraced hill, where once it was cultivated. The agricultural aspect that is still well perceived, even if in some environments it is part of the past, is a peculiarity of the island of Elba that makes it very interesting.
Il Camping Enfola it has both pitches for tents and campers and small wooden bungalows, from which you can enjoy the sea view. The beach is on the doorstep and it is a lot also recommended for children because it gently degrades. An advisable place for those who want to take a holiday of all nature, away from cars and traffic; among other things on the promontory of Capo d'Enfola there are also paths to be done on foot or by mountain bike that start from behind the building of the former trap. The campsite is open from April to early October, needless to say that out of season the charm is "amplified" by the best prices ... for example, until May 2 adults with car tent and light connection spent € 27,00 per night, more low cost say so!
On a terrace overlooking the sea is the restaurant Pizzeria of the campsite, also open to non-campers. It is a place where you can spend an evening eating fish or a simple pizza. I suggest the appetizers, very spectacular also in the presentation - I ate a delicious and original fried octopus! from the price around 10 euros, or the classic pizzas, about 6 euros each. The tables outside grant a priceless view of the sunset over the sea.
