Eating in Florence: Oil Shoppe

Oil Shoppe is an institution among American, especially students who spend a semester in the cradle of the Renaissance. It has become an obligatory stop thanks to word of mouth and if a place becomes famous because all those who have had lunch there have spoken well of it, it means that it is not so bad.

So I decided to give it a try! L'atmosphere is casual and is the ideal place for a quick lunch. You can eat at the counter, strictly in wood, sitting on high stools or take away. You could take advantage of the summer and have lunch in Piazza Santa Croce, which is only 5 minutes from there.

Il service is quick: you order, you say the name and when it is ready they call you. Besides being quick, it's a really nice service.

The strength of Oil shoppe are the sandwiches: simple, Vegetarians, classic with cold cuts and super chubby. If you don't like even one of those proposed, you can choose the ingredients; fresh and quality, they are displayed in the showcase inside. The maximum price is 4 €By adding very few euros you can also have French fries and water.

The menu also offers salads, soups , hot drinks (including hot chocolate with marshmellows for only 2 euros), yogurt and fresh fruit, all at cheap prices.

It won't be a Michelin-starred venue, though I recommend to try it if you are in those parts or for a delicious lunch.
