Il Contrary Mary It is a place that we could define as historic in Rimini and if you want to eat typically Rimini and Romagna, this is the right place for you. After a prolonged closure due to renovation, this restaurant has reopened its doors while maintaining the Romagna style intact in the furnishings and in the menu.
Here you eat decidedly (and heavily) from Romagna and you can understand it by reading the first lines of the menu. Beans and pork rinds, homemade maltagliati with chickpeas, beaten pasta and beans, all in the terracotta pot, then the legendary tagliatella with meat sauce. The starters, on the other hand, are a mixed plate of cold cuts, omelette with onion from the garden, peppers à la Bastian Contrario, tuna, beans and onion. Finally, grilled meat and various side dishes.
In short, I think you have understood that there is no joking here, no nouvelle cuisine, no to gastronomic progress, as it is written on all the menus at the table.
I tell you right away that there were six of us and we were thinking of as many complete menus by Bastiano da 25 € with all that I have just mentioned. The waiter looked at us and advised us to take only four, as they were definitely abundant in his opinion. And in the end we can confirm that he was right. The cost of the full menu is worth them all.
Water, wine that you can tap yourself as many times as you want from the barrel, piada as a side dish at will, donut, coffee strictly from the cuccuma and digestives, all included in the menu price. Other variants of menus are possible, obviously at lower costs and ranging from 14 euros to 22 euros. I recommend you to book, it is always full.
