A real gem of Portoferraio is l 'Enoteca della Fortezza. I was there a few days ago for lunch and I was pleasantly shocked from many things. The first surprise is the place, the wine shop is located inside the sixteenth-century walls of the Medici Fortresses built by Cosimo De 'Medici Grand Duke of Tuscany. I won't tell you what refreshment is here after the heat of the island. The place is practically located inside a cave and you have one view right on the sea thanks to the large windows.
The Enoteca is a project sponsored by Slow Food and that's the only place they're in all Doc wines of the Elban territory, products typical at km 0: O
To get to the Enoteca there are two roads, even if the best is Via Scoscesa, the one that leads right in front of the "official" gate of the restaurant.
- orari di apertura they are from 11 to 15 and from 18 to 24, every day. Inside there are about 20 seats, no more, for that is it always good to book, also to feel the kind of proposed menu as there are no menus, the dishes are always fresh also based on local gastronomic availability.
Cosa I ate myself? Everything ^ _ ^ Seriously I ate the salad you see above, made of: salad sheets, zucchini, pine nuts, fennel and fish left in oil and lemon for a few hours. Very good. Rose wine, bread and a peach sweet leave to macerate for about a day in theAleatico, One of the best passito wines in Italy. Really a very tasty and light lunch. To be absolutely tried also for the atmosphere, the wine and the books, everywhere ^ _ ^
