It was a summer full of excursions, and while wandering through the Apennine valleys in the middle of the Marche and Romagna we made a small stop in Frontino, a delightful Marche village a few kilometers from Carpegna.
It is a real medieval village, as there are many it is true, but this has always struck me in its being clinging to a mountain peak and to access it you need to make a short climb that starts from the road that connects Carpegna to Pian of Meleto. Walking through its alleys, during the early summer afternoon, gives a feeling of solitude, but it is only an impression. In our short stay there were in fact many cyclists, all foreigners.
It is in fact a hidden destination but in the end known by a certain type of tourists, a small gem of our Apennines. Exciting is the clock tower submerged in vines that also change with the succession of the seasons. There is a hotel in the town center, la Rocca dei Malatesta which I have not yet had the opportunity to try, but it is not said that it will not do so soon to observe the Montefeltro in winter. In fact, starting from Rimini in less than 45 minutes you arrive at your destination.
For those wishing to stay in the tranquility of this village in the summer season, know that it is an excellent starting point for day trips to Urbino or the republic of San Marino. If you want to taste something typical, there is no shortage of solutions, in fact the village can be visited in half a day and if you want to look for something interesting to eat I recommend the Hostaria di San Girolamo next to the convent of the same name, not even two kilometers away. from the center and in front of the town of Frontino. Impossible to go wrong and impossible to forget such an excursion.
