Generator Venice, sleeping in a hostel in Venice

Generator Venice, sleeping in a hostel in Venice

Venezia it is certainly one of the most loved and visited cities in Italy, unfortunately also famous for its sometimes prohibitive prices. For some time, however, you can spend a weekend with a view of San Marco without having to drain your bag and above all without settling for a dump: the newcomer of Generator Hostel has in fact replaced the old youth hostel on the Giudecca island.

I told you about this solution a couple of years ago, when I had been in the Lagoon for the Art Biennale and this was a simple and common hostel, now to see the first images it no longer seems to be like this: the ground floor has been completely modernized, where previously there were plastic tables for breakfast now there is a small billiard table, a fireplace, comfortable and warm armchairs, carpets and tables with chairs and stools of all kinds, all in a room with exposed stone walls and an incredible bar!

Ai upper floors there are simple but tidy rooms of various sizes and in some cases with a breathtaking view that embraces the whole city. THE dorms they range from 16 seats (don't be scared, I assure you that they are very liveable because inside each one there are like small rooms all connected!) up to smaller ones from 6, with the possibility of choosing the room for women only. If you are a group of 4/5 people the best solution is for sure to choose the private room.

Can't miss the free wi fi, continental breakfast, bar open from aperitif time until night, restaurant, 24-hour laundry and luggage storage. What more could you ask for? The prices are very competitive and by browsing a bit you can find accommodations from € 22 for the next few months.

My advice, since the hostel is located in Giudecca and it is essential to use public transport to reach it, it is to take advantage of an excellent promotion for children under 29: the Rolling Venice, which at a cost of € 4 (and the duration of 12 months) allows you to have discounts in the city and make a 72-hour pass for only € 18 (instead of € 35) for public transport, with which you can visit the length and breadth of the entire lagoon.

Generator Venice can be reached starting from the railway station or piazzale Roma and getting off the vaporetto at the Zitelle stop of lines 2, 4.1 and N (at night). From here you can then get to any other place in the city using the same lines.
