How to get around once you arrive in Olbia, Sardinia. Twelve bus lines to move from the most beautiful beaches of Olbia to the city center, from residential complexes to Sardinia's airport.
Olbia it is a small city, you can reach any point in the city on foot without big problems or amount of time. The local transport company makes available twelve bus lines to get to all points of interest in the city: from beaches to hospitals, passing through shopping centers.
Bus line 1
It is the main bus line and runs through the whole city and all neighborhoods. The terminus are both near shopping centers: to the north, the terminus is near the “Terranova” shopping center; along the main avenue of the city, Viale Aldo Moro, passing in front of the train station. It crosses the neighborhoods to the east and south of the city to arrive at the opposite end of the city. At the terminus you will find the Auchan gallery, the largest shopping mall in the city. The rides are every 15-25 minutes maximum.
Bus line 2
One of the two lines (together with the 10) that connects the city center with theCosta Smeralda airport which is in town but inconvenient to walk to. The opposite terminus is located in the residential district of Sa Minda Noa. Run frequency: 30 minutes.
Bus line 3
Line three is a strictly residential line as it reaches the eastern district, along Via Vittorio Veneto without touching points of tourist interest.
Bus line 4
To arrive at beaches of Olbia you will have to take this bus as the only one that arrives in the hamlet of Pittulongu. Beaches such as La Playa, Lo Squalo, Mare Rocce, Pellicano, Bados await you at the stops of the aforementioned line. The service is active all year round but with significant timetable variations between summer and winter: In winter there are only six trips throughout the day with a frequency of 90-100 minutes from each other . Bus line 9
It's a station circular. It can be useful for those who want to get to the city center as it passes in front of the town hall and Corso Umberto, the historic center of the city. Frequent runs.
Bus line 10
It is the second line that connects the city with the airport. Number ten is ideal for those arriving at the airport and who have the hotel in the center because it allows you to reach the heart of the historic center by passing through it thanks to the small size of the car that is usually attributed to this line. Runs every 30 minutes.
Bus line 11
City center-Geovillage. The Geovillage it is the largest sports and hotel complex in the city of Olbia. Home of the Mèlia hotel and sports facilities for many sports including tennis, football, basketball, swimming and gym. Infrequent runs.
Bus line 12
Recently added it connects the hamlet of Berchiddeddu with the city. Noteworthy is the presence of stops along the way that allow you to visit the remains of a Roman Villa and the archaeological site of the Castle of Pedres with adjoining tombs of the giants. The frequency is about 60 minutes.
During the'docking of cruise ships (in Olbia they are frequent) there is a bus service that from the square in front of the town hall (in the center) leads to the beach in la playa, in Pittulongu, reducing the route. The frequency depends on the number of people on board. Insured every 30 minutes.
Being a special ride, the cost of the ticket amounts to 5 euros round trip which can be purchased in the tourist information office located in the municipal building.
Where to buy tickets
The basic ticket costs 1 euro and lasts 90 minutes where it is possible to transfer from one bus to another (always remaining within 90min). You can buy it in any shop, tobacconist, bar that displays the sticker of the urban transport company “ASPO” on the window. It is possible to buy the ticket directly on the bus but with a surcharge of 0,50 cents, by contacting the driver directly.
Other forms of tickets available are those of twelve rides. Always lasting 90 minutes at a cost of 10 euros.
