Yes, the word is a fusion of glamorous and camping, a new camping trend that is popular because it brings together many needs of today's vacationer. Going camping is nice, but it can be uncomfortable. So the advantages of this type of holiday or this type of accommodation are obvious, contact with nature, usually secluded locations and in enviable positions and last but not least cost savings, especially if a family moves.
Glamping it's camping, even in a tent, or in a cottage or bungalow and in any case without the typical “Canadian” inconveniences; you stay with real beds and sheets, air conditioning, comfortable hammocks and deck chairs, services at your fingertips (beach, swimming pool, various sports fields), but also mini washing machines available, showers heated by the sun, use of bio or ecological materials for feel even more in contact with nature. Glamping is in fact popular overseas in countries such asAustralia or Mexico and also in Northern Europe, where respect for nature, its protection and the need to spend a holiday immersed in it is perhaps a little stronger than for some Italians (even if all generalizations are valid for what they are).
However the Glamping Award 2014 awarded through a website its most loved and popular facilities among fans of the genre and at a European level the campsite that was most voted is the camping village Norcenni Girasole which is located in the municipality of Figline Valdarno, near Firenze. While the city of Figline, as the name suggests, rises on the banks of the river and therefore on the plain, the surrounding area is made up of beautiful hills and Tuscan landscapes, of those that make up the idea that the collective imagination has of this land : to understand each other, this is where Sting bought a house in Tuscany.
The hills on which Norcenni Girasole is located border on Chianti area and the campsite is very popular with tourists from all over Europe. In 30 minutes you arrive in Florence, in as many minutes you reach Arezzo, Siena is the same distance, San Gimignano can be reached in a few minutes.
At Norcenni you will find small houses, mobile homes, all the comforts mentioned above as regards the facilities of the structures. In addition, two water parks, a "lagoon" that is a shallow mirror with a soft bottom where children go crazy; fields for practicing your favorite sports, group fitness classes. Of course not one is missing SPA, entertainment is guaranteed for both children and adults, during the day and in the evening. There are bars and restaurants where you can taste the local cuisine, but also, for those coming from abroad, cooking classes and wine tasting. In short, a case of glamping that fully meets the definition of this type of hospitality. In this area there are approximately 500.000 tourists annually, most of which are attracted to the Norcenni campsite.
