Il Grillo's it's a restaurant bar which has been able to condense in itself the excellence of being one and the superb capacity of being the other. It is located under the arcades of an ancient building at the entrance to the village of roncade (TV), in an environmental context of the full Treviso countryside. It can be reached by passing through narrow streets that develop along the Sile river, a few kilometers from the city of Venice.
Outside, under the portico, four wooden tables and high stools are always ready for an aperitif, including winter, hence a first clue to the internationality of the place: as up there in Northern Europe, the outdoor area is used in every season.
A room that condenses culinary tradition, modernity, creativity and taste, which from the past, from the Sixties to today has seen its evolution and growth, which has maintained its rustic and indigenous nature in some parts well integrated with others of much more contemporary and welcoming momentum.
At the entrance, attention is captured in a bipolar way by the aperitif counter and the deli counter: a tumult of culinary greatness. On the first, the protagonists, in addition to the glasses, are the raw hams to be cut with a knife, cold cuts and wonderful cheeses to accompany glasses of wine wisely introduced by the owner who immediately enchants you with his oratory skills.
In the corridor that accompanies the internal dining room there is a new international element: one open kitchen, cleverly protected by a glass, in which grilled meats and hamburgers of excellent quality are prepared. A restaurant with character is also recognized in the challenging choice to show off its backstage.
And finally the room, in which the furnishing to make the difference: creative chandeliers in whose metal body Campari bottles are literally embedded, benches with high padded backs, cushions, contemporary art objects ranging from a very colorful to very neutral scale and are made of the most varied materials: canvases, paintings on plastic, wood or metal substrates. And again sculptures, lamps, a planisphere in which all the travel stages of the owner, world traveler par excellence, are pinned. His travel stories will enchant you, his life experiences in the United States, Australia, Central America, in South Africa rather than the North Pole will intrigue you and the images projected on a wall monitor will capture your heart for good.
All this richness of contents, supported by an always thought out musical choice, and by an excellent result of the dishes, manages to make a dinner at Grillo's.
At first, irresistible homemade chips anticipate the choice of dishes.
A note, then, goes to the menu which is divided into appetizers, first courses, second courses and "the middle ways", including parmesan aubergines, curry scampi and couscous with vegetables. Divine is the Piedmontese Fassona meat tartare prepared at the moment and served with the right proportion of accompanying sauce created thanks to the chef's imagination and the best oils, olives, cherry tomatoes, chillies, onions and more, obviously all very Italian ingredients.
A special mention goes to the meat fillets and to desserts… Indispensable after a meal.
For the wine, rely on the owner: he will be able to direct you towards great taste paths, accompany each glass with romantic product descriptions, demonstrate refined knowledge on the subject and personal anecdotes will not be lacking.
At Grillo's, fine food, good wine, excellent music, images from the world, stories, warmth of the place are the guarantee of a truly unforgettable evening. And the booking can be done online.
