Let's start with the name. John was the owner of this small trattoria and in the Years' 70 he managed about thirty covers with his wife and son. Times have changed, Giovanni is gone, the place has remained the same, but the line to eat for dinner and lunch is long and we recommend a booking. The restaurant is located in Via della Lungara halfway between Trastevere, San Pietro and Castel Sant'Angelo, a stone's throw from the Lungotevere.
If you want to breathe the air of an ancient Rome and the atmosphere of traditionally "poor" dishes, this is the place for you. The waiters, strictly Roman, will bring you a menu that breathes generations. A menu that doesn't leave too much choice: classic dishes of Roman gastronomy.
Last Monday, looking for a typical trattoria in Trastevere, I came across this little place. This is my dinner: fettuccine with meat sauce, two meatballs with sauce (giant), baked potatoes; water. I paid € 16,50. Judge for yourself.
