A family-run 4-star hotel with top-quality cuisine, here is the review of the Hotel Serena in Andalo, why book here and what to do and see in its surroundings. Family stay without giving up relaxation and taste!
Go to Trentino at the end of the summer season is it a gamble? For the second time I have chosen Andalo for a short stay with the family. Having a 6-year-old daughter just turned, we wanted to enjoy a short period of relaxation in the mountains but where there was at least some entertainment for the children: here is the review of theHotel Serena in Andalo.
Hotel Serena di Andalo: why choose it
We have therefore chosen this village in the center ofBrenta plateau - Paganella, mindful of the previous experience in a family hotel in which the child had literally pampered her and my wife and I had been able to carve out some time for us. The food honestly didn't impress me and so we wanted to upgrade the hotel.
We have thus selected the Hotel Serena, a completely renovated 4-star family hotel. It is located at the end of the village of Andalo. Here, in the immediate vicinity, the main paths to the Piz Galin (or Pizzo Gallino), the most significant peak close to Andalo while on the other side the plateau of the Paganella.
The kitchen
This time we were literally amazed by the kitchen. Daily menus of great quality, never banal dishes, different dishes every day. Certified product quality, rigorously homemade bread and a wine list that also offered local craft beers. Basically I found myself in heaven and being a rather demanding person there has not been a single day in which I had to fault something. I guarantee you that it is not a foregone conclusion since most of the time the Family hotel menus they are not exactly exceptional.
Risotto with Teroldego with blueberries, Venison steak with lukewarm pears with grappa, Quadrelli of venison rustic, finger food that you do not expect. And these are just some of the dishes we ate.
A relaxing place
Area Spa and Wellness finally is the icing on the cake. A beautiful underground pool adjacent to the complex dedicated to the Spa where you can literally be pampered in peace. Do you think we have not taken advantage of it? This time I think I have set the record for staying in the sauna.
What else have we done? Well if you do not like to work hard on the 'perilous' mountain peaks, you can always do as we do and in the different days of stay we have (in order) explored Trento and its magnificent Buonconsiglio Castle (34 km), visited the magical Thun Castle in Vigo di Ton (14 km) and finally harvested lots of apples in the nearby Val di Non.
One of the nicest things was talking to the apple picker. We asked for permission and squeezed between rows to collect them by ourselves. The moment I pulled out my wallet to pay them, a tender lady greeted us like this: “Okay guys, pretend it's a gift from Trentino”.
Of course, during our stay there were short walks or the visit to a Maso. In our case we visited the Maso Grezi, where the children of our hotel were able to see the animals, the stables and above all learn how cheese is prepared. Small experiences, but always formative.
