As for vintage shops Florence gives great satisfaction. They all hide in small side streets, as if they wanted to play hide and seek, but if possible, they make the search even more fun. There is something for all tastes and budgets, and in my Florentine wanderings I came across several, these are the ones I would certainly return to:
Lady Jane B, via dei Pilastri 32 / r: as small as well assorted. Women's clothing and accessories only coming mostly from London. And the style proposed by Sabrina, owner of this store in the most Florentine neighborhood there is, is the British and bon ton one of the English capital. Fancy dresses, oxford lace-ups, scarves and hats, postwomen, in short: here you will find everything you would go crazy for in the queen's city. There is also a wide choice of American costume jewelery and designer and non-designer sunglasses, all strictly vintage and in excellent condition. The prices are very fair and going out without taking something will be impossible. And if you're only here for a short time but, like me, you've fallen in love with Sabrina and her shop, don't worry: Lady Jane B also does shipping.
Street Doing in via dei Servi 88 / r: a beautiful and large shop 10 minutes walk from the Duomo. It has a rich assortment of men's and women's clothing and is the paradise of accessories: you can find really everything, from hats to scarves, to sunglasses and not, with a choice that will satisfy the most avid collectors. There is also a separate issue for bags: of all sizes, mainly in leather and colors ranging from black to beige, passing through intense blues with a contrasting golden chain. Matteo is very nice and will help you in your choice. Prices are average, at least adequate since the quality is very high. Beware of the Arella in the second room with everything for 20 euros, there you will find the unmissable gems.
L 'Chiodo, via dell'Anguillara 39 / r: Narrow and long just like a nail, clothing and accessories for men - women, 70s and 80s, with a focus on the Eighties: many leather garments, colorful t-shirts and jeans and converse, as well as a choice of vintage customized models with studs and anything else by Brando and Giulia, the owners. Studs that can also be applied to the garments you already have, just take them to the store. There is also a good choice of shoes: from classic leather boots to moccasins, to more particular oxfords. Medium-low prices. Not to be missed if you are looking for good deals.
Vintage period, via dei Fossi 6 / r: Valentina Ferroni followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, who already had a secondhand counter at the San Lorenzo market in 1968: Epoca, one of the first vintage shops in the city, was born from this generational passion. The shop, large and with beautiful windows on the street and a sign with a retro flavor that does not go unnoticed, offers clothing and accessories for men / women. There are big brands, such as Chanel, Gucci, Hermes, Camerino, Fendi, E. Pucci, Valentino, Les Copains, Beltrami, The Bridge, Celine, but also unbranded pieces, strictly vintage and of quality. Watch out for shoes and sunglasses. Medium-high prices, but there are also excellent bargains. And you always come up with something unique.
Desii Vintage via De Conti 17/19: if you love vintage and you are a couple, Desii is perfect for you: they are two stores, one next to the other, dedicated respectively to men and women, two design and style chests that also characterize the furniture and the atmosphere and shop furnishings, chosen with obsessive care. British inspiration for men, almost like a country lord, with a proposal of tweed jackets, oxford lace-ups, cardigans. Great choice of ties and leather bags and travel suitcases.
We also move overseas for the women's part, with a focus on scarves, butterfly sunglasses, post-ladies and brogues. Hermes, Chanel and Louis Vuitton bags of all sizes. The British essence is found in the dresses and coats but there is a good representation of great Italian stylists Historical and tested pieces, come in if you want to make the purchase of life, or at least of the year.
Desii Lab in via della Spada 40 / r instead proposes a Kate Moss style, younger and fresher, and combines vintage garments with crazy emerging designers and costumed proposals. There is no shortage of big names, perhaps with their "young" lines. Opened in February 2013, it caters to a younger clientele and then off to t-shirts, leggings, Dr. Martens, studded hats, leather jackets and ankle boots. Grunge with style.
