Sooner or later the long tail of this winter will decide to give way to spring and then it will be nice to go around Romagna hills and stop and try the cuisine of a few isolated farmhouses in the area. In the meantime I tried the Il monte farm in Roncofreddo.
Interesting place: the tool shed transformed into a restaurant and kitchen room - with walls of earth and straw -, the foundations of the chicken coop in a large open terrace on the Rubicon hills and the farmhouse in three comfortable lodgings. Fruits and vegetables, fresh or preserved according to the seasons, oil and wine, but also chickens, rabbits, kids and pigs - Mora romagnola or smoked, that is Mora + Large white - all come from direct cultivation and breeding.
On Sundays and on holidays it is possible to have a 'long' snack, a sort of evening brunch based on biscuits, cakes and creams or cold cuts, the greedy 'small glasses to spread' and wine.
To try not only the cuisine, but also the activity (also suitable for children): cooking workshops to learn how to make traditional Romagna dishes and educational paths to discover farm animals or wild herbs.
In any case, it is best to call before arriving there.
