A new way of seeing works of art is born: the multimedia exhibition.
Since 6 December to 9 March 2014 will take place in Milan VAN GOGH ALIVE, a real show of sounds and lights, music and large images that involve the viewer in a virtual journey among the best known and loved masterpieces of the great Dutch artist.
Therefore, the authentic canvases will not be on display, but the paintings will be projected through the use of a sophisticated technology that projects high-resolution images and that allows to reproduce, and therefore observe, the details, the brushstrokes, the colors, the shades and all those elements that make Van Gogh's paintings unique, a genius misunderstood in life but much loved after his death.
The exhibition is hosted at the Fabbrica del Vapore, in via Procaccini 4, an old industry that has ceased to play its role and has become a large exhibition space where exhibitions, events and performances are set up. It is one of the places of cultural Milan in recent years, where exhibitions are often organized and whose large spaces are well suited to stage an exhibition of this kind.
Also part of the exhibition are the letters that Vincent wrote to his brother Theo, direct testimony of the existential drama that accompanied the artist's short life, confidences and outbursts told to his beloved brother, the only economic and moral support of his stormy existence, important traces and testimonies of a troubled and suffered reality.
The exhibition presents the artist's entire life and activity, from his beginnings in Paris to the Provençal period, in which Van Gogh isolates himself from the world to immerse himself in the nature and sunny colors of the region he loved so much.
The itinerary is also complete with the preparatory sketches that were used to paint the views of the fields, landscapes and interiors so dear to him, such as his room in Arles, and which have made immortal one of the most important exponents of art of all. times.
