At the beginning of 2014, 5 Veronese entrepreneurs opened in Grezzana (about 15 minutes north of Verona), the iTaste restaurant, with the idea of proposing the most famous street food, the hamburger, in a gourmet version and with particular attention to the genuineness of the products used, strictly Italian and as much as possible at zero kilometers.
The location
The iTaste restaurant is located in Grezzana, in the province of Verona, on the road to Bosco Chiesanuova, in an area of easy passage between the city and the mountains, and with ample parking.
The décor of the restaurant is very modern, in a minimal style, with an area reserved for children and an outdoor patio for the summer.
The hamburger
The initial idea is clear: to serve a high quality and certified burger, with a rich and natural taste. The meat supply comes from one selected Veronese butcher, which guarantees a high standard of product and processing, remaining in the philosophy of the zero kilometer. The meat is ground from the brisket of the beef and no preservatives are used, which also has a very positive effect on digestibility.
They can be chosen up to 4 different sandwich sizes, based on the weight of the hamburger to be used, as well as cooking is requested from time to time, based on the taste and preference of the customer.
No particular flavorings are used, which could artificially modify or alter the taste of the hamburger. The chef's attention is aimed at balancing the flavors in every single dish, with a constantly evolving research.
Not just burgers
Il menu of iTaste is very diverse. The gourmet hamburgers with which the idea of the restaurant was born have been joined with great success by other proposals, far from being second-rate.
La iTaste pizza, for example, they are made with organically grown flours from the Antico Molino Rosso di Buttapietra (VR), an authentic guarantee for every type of dough, for flavor, digestibility and genuineness. The presentation (in the shape of a star), the choice of products with which it is stuffed and the special taste that is immediately encountered on the palate, can put this restaurant on the line of the best pizzerias, although it was not born specifically for this type of dish.
The dishes of the kitchen, then, are the synthesis of the chef's search for taste and combinations, a summary that combines delicious pork ribs, Vallespluga cockerels first choice, beef brisket burger, with black Kalamata olives, red onion from Tropea, vegetables grilled directly in the kitchen and fries of a particular type, able to fry better and keep their state longer on the plate. L'Redoro oil from Lake Gardafinally, it certainly cannot be missing.
I close the circle of iTaste's proposals with the "panoni", Among which I identified the dish that struck me most in terms of taste: the George…. yes, Peppa Pig's brother! Here too the story of the dish deserves to be asked, a story that brings inside a super sandwich of boneless pork ribs with all the related side dishes studied ad hoc. Do as you like, but next time I'll order just this, it remains in my heart.
What about vegetarians / vegans? It sounds incredible, but vegetarians and vegans are also welcome in a restaurant born for burgers. They were specially created the veggie burger and the panone ortolano, to satisfy everyone's food preferences.
The beers
The menu presents for each dish the relative pairing in terms of beer, strictly handcrafted and carefully chosen. The only exception to the rule on Italianness is found in the offer on tap, while those in bottles come from the Abruzzo craft brewery "San Giovanni", which under the label In my own way offers pils, scotch ale, blanche, porbata and ipa, all of excellent quality, and particularly pleasant when correctly combined.
