    Right on top of the village of Santarcangelo di Romagna, near the square of the bell tower, has opened for a year an unmissable place for anyone who passes in the area. Find the Santarcangelo Tavern it's very simple: just park your car in the parking lot at the edge of the ZTL and continue on foot for a few minutes. You will find yourself in front of La Tavernetta.

    The restaurant occupies a vintage house, on two floors, and in the summer dining on terrace with a view it is a really good experience. Before the winding stairs, a beautiful well furnishes a small room: the rooms follow one another as in a labyrinth. Wooden tables, colored chairs and no equipment will make you guess the kind of evening that awaits you. The formula is in fact simple a set menu, but variable depending on the evening and the season and for sure no cover charge: cutlery will be brought to you only for soups and desserts and the only dishes will be those of course.



    It usually starts with seasonal soups and then sticks with trays of stuffed piade, croutons, cassoni stuffed with herbs, pizzas. We then move on to a nice one platter with mixed cold cuts, pork and cheeses, and then conclude with a dessert mix (cheese cake, donut, chocolate cake, puddings: the choice always changes). In the summer, I happened to see a waitress with a basket of broad beans, who passed between the tables, offering them to anyone who wanted some. The wine and beer cellar is very varied, but the house wine is also worth it.


    The managers are also very friendly and nice: they joke with customers from the beginning to the end of your meal. The tavern opens on holidays in the late afternoon, to offer a little snack based on sweets. A note of merit goes to the organization of the New Year's Eve dinner: the expense was alone 15 € all inclusive. Even on ordinary evenings, the price is around that amount, per person. Very suitable for large dinners, but the lower floor also reserves a certain intimacy for special evenings; in any case, I recommend booking, as usually the place is quite full, especially on weekends. A place where you make friends with the simple cuisine of the past.
