In any case, there are also bathing establishments with sunbeds, umbrellas, bars and the inevitable "huts", the real peculiarity of these establishments. They are in fact cabins that are generally rented by several families to create an atmosphere of conviviality and better enjoy the holidays.

Art and culture

The Lido, however, is also history and art, a destination for writers such as Byron in the 800th century. There are reports of settlements on the island since the beginning of the birth of Venice, when however it was only one of the many cultivated areas.
The historic center is located in the Malamocco area, the ancient customs office of Venice and, before that, the Roman port.
In the ancient village it is possible to visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta (XII century) and the Palace of the Potestà which houses an archaeological museum.

More recent, but immediately new focus of city life, the Church of Santa Maria Elisabetta, built in 1500 with extensions and restorations that took place in the following centuries. From here the Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta that connects the lagoon coast to the maritime one: an indispensable walk to breathe the air of the Lido.

Finally, for architecture enthusiasts, a visit to the buildings in Art Nouveau scattered all over the island. The houses built in the early 900s combine the most diverse styles, from Moorish to Neo-Gothic, with floral decorations on the facades. The glance is sensational.

There is no shortage of activities at the Lido of Venice throughout the year, but the time of the Venice Film Festival is certainly exciting also for vipwatching!
