Rockefeller center is among the most famous symbols of New York and its ice rink every year welcomes millions and millions of skaters, more or less experienced, who year after year look forward to skating in one of the most romantic places in the city.
Rockefeller center is famous during the Christmas period for hosting the most giant tree in the world covered with Swarovski and lights.
Rockefeller Center Christmas tree
This year theRockefeller Center Christmas tree comes from Vargoshe Family of Connecticut. It has belonged to this family and its generations for 75 years, it is 76 feet tall and 47 wide, weighs 12 tons and after being placed in the center of Rockefeller center it is being completely covered with 42.000 LED lights and precious Swarovski that will make the tree an eighth wonder on earth.
The ignition of the tree will take place on 3 December 2014 from 19 until 21pm with singers and ice shows that will accompany the evening until the long-awaited lighting. Like any self-respecting American event, be prepared for a long queue to see something, I recommend going an hour or two before. The tree lights will go out on January 7 2015 at 20.
Bryant park Christmas tree
Another event of the same nature is the lighting of the Christmas tree Bryant Park to be held on 27 November 2014 from 18.30 pm. Always with music shows on ice and famous people.
Bryant park is home to the largest ice rink outdoors, admission is free, pay only for the rental of skates and the door to store bags and shoes. Don't carry a lot of things or large bags as this locker is ridiculous in size. In Bryant Park there are always groups of young people who perhaps grew up in rap and skating and while you may be intent on keeping you at the bar so as not to fall or slip on the ground they will dart near you with immense simplicity and lightness.
The skating rink is surrounded throughout the Christmas period by more than one hundred temporary shops that will make you just want to buy more. Christmas Gifts, and of course there are bars or eateries where a nice hot chocolate never hurts.
