I recently happened to find me in Florence for a few days and that's how I had dinner with some friends. The venue chosen was Niwa, local halfway between Japanese and Thai, really cool place. I immediately say, and I want to clarify it, that here is not exactly what they say a low cost place. You won't eat with 10 € but probably if you feel like it spend a little more and you like these flavors you will be happy and you will leave enthusiastic.
Il local it is quite large and above all there is one room which deserves a few more words. I don't know why, in the sense that I don't know how pleasant the customer can be, but there is this room, where I was too, where the light changes constantly. No, I'm not talking about slight variations in light, but radical changes, such as red, blue, green and white ... well enough challenging, especially while eating.
I don't think all rooms have this play of light though, so just in case, if you happen to book maybe ask first. Leaving out the lights, the local is very nice and also the presentation of the dishes and the general appearance of the table. What did we eat? All. We started with a Thai appetizer, steamed ravioli both meat and vegetables, then pad thai, Thai-style noodles with vegetables only e rice noodles with vegetables. Then in order not to miss anything even chicken with pepperoni and basil, spicy, e spicy eggplant.
We ate all this with the classics chopsticks, oh my God, to tell the truth every now and then I cheated with cutlery but some things I just couldn't: P and with Thai beer and water. Whole table preparation and the care in serving the dishes deserves a very high rating.
Finally we allowed ourselves a couple of sweets, a rice cake and a typical Florentine one. The best way to end your dinner between Thai and local specialties. It must be said that the dinner was excellent even if we didn't try anything Japanese. The double menu tempts a lot to take everything but before you go I advise you to clear your mind or you will take everything as we did ^ _ ^
