Last night my friends took me to try theOstaria dei Centopoveri in Florence, a very nice place that passed the test with flying colors. It is located in a very central position, a stone's throw from piazza Ognissanti: reachable in a few minutes from the Santa Maria Novella station, it is an excellent starting point for a digestive walk along the Lungarno Vespucci to Ponte Vecchio. For parking it is not the best but we know that the whole center is the exact same ordeal.
It is both a pizzeria and a restaurant in typical Tuscan cuisine and the prices are average: the pizzas start at 4 euros for the marinara but most of them are around 8 euros, fish first courses 10-13 euros, desserts all for 4 euros.
What is striking is thevery simple environment It is cozy; the staff is friendly and polite, you immediately notice a young management but perhaps the service is a little slow. It is also true that we sat down to dinner late on a Friday evening, well after 22pm, and the place was full.
We opted for a caprese pizza, two first courses of fish, pici with crab and fresh cherry tomatoes, and two desserts: the pizza is of the higher type and was very good; the pici were exquisite, very abundant and garnished with the super crab that we had seen together with the other live crustaceans, in the counter at the entrance to the restaurant. The desserts were also delicious: chocolate cheesecake (huge) and a very original chestnut pudding with amaretto and caramel (tiny).
It was a somewhat "frugal" dinner, no wines, coffee or coffee killer, however the quality was very high and the dishes sought after and, with a small discount, we got away with 15 euro each. Among other things, which is quite rare, the cover is not paid. In short, a nice experience to be redone and maybe next time try the Tuscan "meat".
