I have just been published 9.000 cyclists participants of one of the most interesting events on the Italian sports-tourism calendar. There "Marathon of the Dolomites" will be held this year Sunday June 30 and will start from the town of Alta Badia, La Villa, a stone's throw from the most renowned center of Corvara.
The competition is not for professionals. It is open to all those who have completed 15 (fifteen) years of both sexes, registered with the FCI or bodies of the consultation. The 2013 Marathon provides three different paths: 138 km and 8 steps to overcome for the complete route (only for cyclists); 106 km for the medium path e 55 km for the Sellaronda route.
To understand the importance of the event just think that registrations were opened on October 17, 2012 and closed on November 7. To understand, however, the high civic and professional sense of the event just read thearticle 26.2 of the regulation: “The civic sense of the participants is appealed in order not to throw waste along the streets, but by placing it in the appropriate containers at the refreshment posts identified by a start and an end refreshment point. Competitors who throw objects of any kind outside the marked spaces will be barred from participating for the following year ".
In one of the last editions, a cyclist (who finished second at the finish line) was disqualified for having thrown his water bottle in one of the many meadows that line the roadway.
The "Marathon of the Dolomites" it's not just sport. Alta Badia, one of the most beautiful and renowned Italian Ladin territories, is the ideal destination for one healthy holiday In touch with nature. Trekking, cycling, mountain biking, Nordic walking, climbing, rafting: the Dolomites as well as being a Unesco Heritage lifestyle lost with the passage of time.
The spectacle of a cycling marathon and a walk between passes and breathtaking landscapes are unparalleled.
