By now in the middle of summer, you really want to leave the concrete of the city behind and enjoy a nice picnic lying on a lawn. Even in Milan? Yes, even if few know it, there are several places full of greenery and tranquility, reachable in less than half an hour from the city center. So take out the wicker basket and checkered tablecloth from the attic and let's go explore them.
The Wood in the city
Following the signs for via Novara, on the western outskirts of Milan, you will find this in front of you huge park. It is a large expanse of greenery, where there is no shortage of majestic trees under which to shelter from the sun. The attached pond is populated by turtles and the whole is well maintained and equipped. There are even masonry porches with large tables, where it is possible to do grilling with the barbecue.
Park of the quarries
It is located in area of Baggio, one of the entrances is via the Armed Forces. After a recent refurbishment, it has become a nice and clean place, with botanical paths and play areas as well. Featuring various ponds not fenced and in which it is even possible to practice the sport fishing. You can spread the tablecloth on the ground or in the picnic area near the entrance to via Cancano.
Trenno park
If you are looking for a large green space to do fitness, play beach volleyball or maybe take a nice ride in the middle of nature, set on the navigator via Cascina Bellaria. Here you will certainly not lack space, you can rest in complete tranquility or have a barbecue with your family without being disturbed. And if you are lucky you will even come across some Milan or Inter players intent on jogging.
Forlanini Park
Near Linate airport, in viale Corelli, you will find this green area that is not excessively large but very clean and well-kept. In the lake wallows herons and ducks and it is pleasant to lie down on its shore in the company of a good book. In the evening, outdoor parties and concerts are often organized.
Martesana park
Of modest size, this park is connected to the city center by the Naviglio Martesana and the long cycle / pedestrian path that runs alongside it. Pass by the Turro red metro line and one of the entrances is in via Valvorta. The picnic area is not very large but easy to reach and well stocked; a ice cream cart often passes nearby. If you continue along the route, you will reach Cassano d'Adda.
