Play the City is the way to visit cities while having fun. Not with a simple guide but with personalized and themed itineraries, as if it were a game, to learn while having fun.
Play the City is the new way to get to know, discover and deepen one's knowledge of a city, be it one's own or one that has never been visited. The founders, Paolo Lampreda and Francesco Mazzai, together with a growing team of collaborators, combine their great expertise as qualified tourist guides with a capacity for involvement that comes from an innate passion for everything that is art, history and, why not , play and fun.
It is the concrete expression of the concept of edutainment, which enriches the tourism sector with new forms of enjoyment of art, history, literature, in a simple, playful and engaging way.
Two proposals: The Tour and The Hunt
Play the City is now combined in two proposals: "The Tour", An interactive guided tour with the involvement of the participants in a story that starts from a fact linked to the city to discover it by examining its details accompanied by a tourist guide prepared to deepen information aimed at both playing the game and getting to know the place; "The HuntInstead, it is configured as a real treasure hunt, with historically based anecdotes, secrets and mysteries, which go to build itineraries and enigmas related to the places in which this experience is about to be played.
My experience: Killing Cangrande in Verona
Personally, I was able to participate in the first case, "Play the City - The Tour", entitled "Killing Cangrande", linked to the reconstruction of the events and death of the probably most important and controversial character in the history of the city of Verona, as well as architect of its period of greatest splendor. It starts with the news of the exhumation of the body of the Lord of Verona and the recent discovery that the causes of death had been different from what until then commonly believed. From there, a sort of thriller opens, in search of the real culprit of the crime, divided by teams but walking together in the most significant (and sometimes mysterious) places linked to the events of life and death, always accompanied by the tour guide, as well as creator of the format, Francesco Mazzai.
The duration of the experience is 3-4 hours, in the evening, including an aperitif (in this case in Piazza Erbe, Verona's city lounge) and all the necessary material. The cost of 30 €, well spent, for an opportunity to discover a lot of events so far only vaguely known, and which certainly enter the head a thousand times better than from reading a book or a "blablabla" guide.
Not only Verona
The two Play the City proposals are not limited to the city of Verona, nor to national borders. In Italy PtC also arrived, among others, a Padua, Venice, Fano, while a proposal has also landed across the Channel, reaching London with a “Hunt” linked to the world of music and punk.
