Il Pollino National Park and the largest natural park in Italy and one of the largest in Europe.
It is therefore important to choose a good starting point that allows you to easily reach the various access points. We have stayed in Civita, which we talked about in a previous post and which is located north of Calabria. Despite being a small village, Civita offers many accommodation options, in fact making well available 16 B&B.
The Chimney of Sofia
The name of this B&B is a tribute to the typical chimneys of the city and to little Sofia, the beautiful girl of Stefania and Giuseppe, Calabrian-Campania couple who manage this delightful B&B.
It is a typical house, in the upper part of the town, renovated without altering its ancient charm but with all the comforts that the modern traveler requires. As the owners themselves write, the chimney pot wants to be above all a home, where you can feel calm, relaxed and comfortable as at home. You will find photos, travel memories and beautiful puppets that Stefania herself creates.
The house is spread over three levels: on the first floor the kitchen and the breakfast room, on the second one fireplace and a sofa where to sit and read a book on colder evenings and finally the rooms on the third floor.
There are two rooms available, Mask and Oriental, taking the names of two of the many chimneys that constitute the artistic and cultural heritage of the village. Both bedrooms have a bathroom, they are spacious and bright, but with a calm light that does not blind, as if to invite you to rest. With attention to style and details, they also have very comfortable beds and a fantastic shower (as well as a real hairdryer) !!
Our room also had a beautiful terrace from which to admire Civita from above, where we rested after canyoning at the Gole Basse del Raganello.
Available to guests the Wireless, the use of the kitchen for a daily meal, satellite TV, use of washing machine and air conditioning (but trust me .. just open the window and enjoy the coolness of the mountains).
Prices range from 30 to 45 euros per person and reductions apply for stays longer than 3 days.
