Rapolano Terme is a spa town about 25 km from Siena, in the area of the Crete, that is exactly the sweet hills that come to mind when you hear the word "Tuscany", of a poignant beauty. There are two spas, one is called Antica Querciolaia, the other is called Terme San Giovanni, and it's my favorite; both are located outside the country, at either end. Terme San Giovanni rises in a panoramic position from which you can see the whole beauty of the landscape. There is a hotel and there are swimming pools, access is separate; however, the complex consists of a small indoor swimming pool, two outdoor pools at different temperatures.
Rapolano's thermal water gushes out at 39 ° C from the source; it is characterized by sulfur (and therefore the typical odor, not exactly pleasant, will accompany you even after the shower) and calcium bicarbonate which makes it whitish and a bit cloudy; the water in the tanks has different temperatures, but it is pleasant especially in winter, when it is cold or snowing outside (rarely). From the highest outdoor pool there is a exceptional sunset, and generally recommended for a relaxing day away from stress. Going there during the week, Monday to Friday, the prices are more than acceptable € 13 for a full day, from 9 to 19; it goes up to € 16 at the weekend (but opening hours are also extended). Chaise-longue included and nice changing rooms; within the complex a bar that also does hot dishes or sandwiches allows you to eat without spending a fortune - by way of example a large bottle of mineral water costs € 1,50.
Terme San Giovanni also offers Day SPA e DAY SPA for couples; on Saturday the evening formula pools + tasting dinner for € 35.
