Incredible to say but a Riva del Garda (TN) it is not so easy to find a completely typical restaurant, perhaps because of its purely tourist vein and therefore dedicated to pizzerias and restaurants not really for the locals. But here I am offering you three, for all tastes, from meat to fish, to satisfy every palate with the taste of the lower Trentino and Upper Garda.
Alle Foci Restaurant
Il Alle Foci Restaurant for you if what you are looking for is a taste of local cuisine in a friendly and very easy going restaurant, no frills but of excellent quality. It is a family-run restaurant and offers some real Alto Garda specialties, among these the main one is certainly the carne salada with beans, to be enjoyed both in raw and cooked carpaccio.
The restaurant is located just outside the center of Riva del Garda, a Tenno, in the locality of Le Foci, hence the name, very close to the famous Varone waterfalls, which you can thus take the opportunity to visit. On the site you will also find a handy map to best reach the restaurant. Prices are medium to low.
Al Volt Restaurant
If your goal is to indulge yourself, the Al Volt Restaurant is what it does for you. An intimate setting with a retro flavor for a special and certainly unique dinner. It is located in Via Fiume 73, in the heart of Riva del Garda, and is located inside a 600th century building, where some rooms, covered by a vaulted ceiling (hence the name of the restaurant), are furnished with antiques and filled with a mostly 40s jazz background.
The owner is really nice and friendly and will make you feel spoiled. Here you can taste some delicious local dishes based on excellent lake fish presented in refined dishes also for the eyes. The price is certainly medium-high but the quality is excellent, some delights will leave you speechless. And wait for the sweets, they will amaze you.
Osteria il Gallo
If what you want instead is the typical Trentino "mountain", here you are served atOsteria il Gallo, hidden in the heart of the city next to the municipality, in the very historic Piazzetta San Rocco, a stone's throw from the lake shore and the boat dock.
The tavern will offer you the most mountaineer and lake at the same time you can find in the surroundings, so you can choose between menu based on lake fish but also, and above all, game menu and therefore venison, mushrooms, polenta and other typical products of the local tradition. The inn also has an excellent regional wine cellar. The host will gladly recommend the ideal combination with the dish you choose. The price here is average, the quality definitely good.
Obviously, after your dinner you will have only a splendid one left walk on the shores of the lake.
