Eating well at Rome Fiumicino airport is possible with My Chef and Autogrill and their restaurants. We have tried four of them and we are happy to let you read our impressions.
This week we went toRome Fiumicino Airport to find out where to eat well inside the airport. Generally, those who take a flight or who arrive, hardly stop for dinner or to eat in some restaurant, preferring to go home early or go directly to the city center to eat something typical. But who has to go to the airport for wait for a plane or whoever arrives and has to wait to get one connection, in the meantime what does it do? Wait… and eat! : D
Come on, do not tell me that you have never eaten inside an airport or that you have not eaten while you wait, even if you weren't so hungry. At least from now on, you will know that you can eat well at Rome Airport Fiumicino, thanks to these four places that I will talk about shortly.
Caffè Roma Capitale
The Café is located in Terminal 1 outside the security checkpoints. Its position is interesting because it allows both those waiting and those who have just arrived to eat in peace. The proposals of the restaurant are different and all very good. I only tasted the aperitif here, which actually seemed more like a lunch! The aperitif, complete with spritz, was based on toasted rice with cheese and pepper, revisited Roman-style gnocchi, raw ham from Bassiano and gnocchi filled with grilled squaquerone. A real treat.
The restaurant seats up to 30 people, but it is also possible to stand or stand at the counter. All dishes were created by Michelangelo Citino, the executive chef.
Wine & Food - Lounge Restaurant
The Wine Food I went to for lunch is located after the security checks at Terminal 1 Mezzanino. Within a huge area where you can eat everything and find any type of culinary proposal, there is this gem, the Wine & Food, which you will also find called by the name Lounge Restaurant.
Unfortunately the place is a little hidden, its entrance is at the corner, after Mc Donald's. If you have a little patience and continue the search, however, I am convinced that you will not regret it. Here you can find quality proposals with a beautiful view of the track. Eating and watching departing flights is truly a sight. Here I ordered a beef tartare, grilled vegetables and an incredibly good meringue, caramel and hazelnut ice cream.
Mercedes Benz Café
This brand new Mercedes Benz coffee shop is located in Terminal 1, between gate 11 and 13 of pier B. You will notice it immediately because the Mercedes Benz brand is unmistakable, but also because it is always full of people crowding the counter for a coffee or a sandwich or to take one of their famous Lunch Boxes.
The Lunch Box, which I found brilliant, is simply a box where you can put a sandwich, a salad or some sweets, to be taken on the plane. In fact, there are airlines, especially the low cost ones, which do not give anything to eat or drink in flight, not even a snack. In this way, thanks to Mercedes Benz, you can have a lunch or a snack all to yourself even on low cost flights. Also here, thanks to the collaboration with Kimbo, you can taste different types of coffee accompanied by tasty macarons!
Délice Maison
The last place I recommend you not to miss inside Rome Fiumicino Airport is Délice Maison where you can taste some donuts. To tell the truth, you can also enjoy salads and delicious baguettes here, but having come here in the afternoon I can tell you about my snack.
Here together with the Coffee Specialist you can enjoy an excellent coffee and eat some delicious donuts or excellent cookies. The restaurant is located in Terminal 1 arrivals and you can sit even if you are just waiting for a friend arriving on a flight to Rome Fiumicino.
