Villa Borghese and the Pincio

The best known park is undoubtedly Villa Borghese, with the much more famous terrace of the Pincio. Moving along Wrong Wall, going up towards Corso d'Italia to Porta Pia, along the Nomentana, there is a very extensive park, Villa Torlonia, known for being the home of Mussolini during the fascist period. Inside: the Casina delle Civette, Villino Rosso and Old stables.

Appia Antica

Another fascinating place is the Appia Antica. Built by the Romans with large stone strips, similar in the manufacture to the San Pietrini, it still retains the beauty of that time intact. Traveling on foot or by bicycle, especially if at sunset, you will feel like you have entered a movie set, with the fields that line the sides, the tall pine trees, and the ancient villas. The route is part of the Appia Antica Regional Park bordered to the north by Aurelian Walls.

The walls of Rome

In the morning, when the first rays of the sun peep out from above the walls, and the sky is a bright yellow, and the city awakens, the light that filters through the arches makes the surrounding environment brighter. Belonging to the past, a symbol of the greatness of Holy Roman Empire and of the origins of the city with the largest open-air museum, the walls are an integral part of daily life.
In many areas of the city it is still visible in whole or in some parts, the walls of ancient Rome, erected to defend it from the barbarian invasions. A considerable portion starts from the center, Muro Torto, until reaching Castro Pretorio. Then again at Porta Maggiore with connections to the aqueduct. This wall belongs to the Aurelian Walls. Even the Janiculum preserves a good part of it. These are called Gianicolense walls.

Culinary goodies

An integral part of Rome's nightlife, they are two clubs that almost become a fixed stop for many on weekends. One is located in a more central area, via Ottaviano; the other in a university area, Bologna square.

Open round the clock, the bakery Sweet Manner of via Barletta is easily identifiable by the line that reaches the sidewalk and along it. For your nighttime snack you can choose between sweet and savory; including croissants, biscuits, cakes and ice cream, up to small and large pizzas. For a Sicilian touch, in via Catanzaro: Mizzica has the best arancini I've ever eaten.

Rome is a combination of ancient and modern. Walking around the neighborhoods it is easy to notice the glass-fronted office buildings next to period buildings. This is especially visible in the areas around Viale Parioli, Viale Regina Margherita until you reach Summer Piazzale, the monumental cemetery of the city, where the University of Rome La Sapienza is located.
